SIC EXTENDS EARLY BIRD PROMOTION FOR MALAYSIAN F1 GRAND PRIX

Looking for a great New Year’s gift for your motorsport-fan family members or friends? Try getting them tickets to the 2011 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, to be held from April 8 to 10 next year.

You could take advantage of the Early Bird promotional discount (50 per cent off ticket prices) which has been extended to January 31, 2011. It will be the perfect gift which will definitely earn you the possibility of being voted as the most favourite person of the year, while saving you quite a bit of money as well.

Better yet, you could also introduce your children to the exciting world of motorsports through the eyes of Disney, as Disney on Ice and the Sepang International Circuit is offering special promotional packages in conjunction with Disney/Pixars’s motion picture, CARS.

The family can enjoy watching the high-speed stunts of Disney / Pixar's CARS, featuring Lightning McQueen, Matar and other characters from the motion picture at the Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil from April 1 to 3, and watch the real-life action of the Formula One race just a week later.

The SIC-Disney on Ice VIP packages comes with four 2011 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix’s Crystal seats tickets and four Disney on Ice VIP Rinkside tickets (worth RM5,429) which can be purchased at RM2,935.

You could also opt for the regular package which offers four 2011 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix‘s Topaz seats tickets and four Disney on Ice Rinkside tickets (worth RM3,589) for only RM1,967.

The SIC-Disney on Ice Package promotional package is available till January 31, 2011.

“Due to popular demand, we decided to extend the Early Bird promotion to January 31 so that fans of the Formula One will be able to take advantage of the discount,” said Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali, adding that the move to extend the Early Bird promotions is part of SIC’s on-going effort to promote the love of motorsports among Malaysians.

“I believe that 2011 will be more exciting as we may potentially be seeing three Malaysian related F1 teams in the likes of Mercedes Petronas F1 Team, a potentially rebadged Lotus Racing Team and a possible Lotus Renault F1 Team, ” said Razlan.

With hillstand seats being offered from as low as RM30, and grandstand seats worth RM1,200 being sold at RM600, the Early Bird discount promotion is an opportunity not to be missed.

Seats for Citrine, North Tower, South Tower and Tower 1 are being sold at RM250 (original price RM500). Seats for Topaz, Garnet and Tower 2 - each one worth RM700- is available at RM350, while seats for Jade area are available at RM400.

Seats for Turquoise are being offered for RM450, while Crystal and Ruby seats are priced at RM550 to RM600 respectively.

Hillstand tickets (K2, C1 and C3) will only cost RM30 compared the normal price of RM60. Grandstand F, which directly faces Turns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 as well as part of the front straight, can be purchased at only RM200.

SIC will be playing host for Round 3 of the 2011 Formula One Championship from April 8 to 10 next year. The 2011 F1 season will see an unprecedented 20-rounds of the world’s most watched motorsports event, starting with Bahrain Grand Prix on March 13 with the second round to be held in Melbourne, Australia a fortnight later.

Tickets can be purchased either via internet at www.sepangcircuit.com or by calling the Ticket Hotline at +603-87782222. Tickets are also available at the SIC Ticket counter.

LAST DAY

The current early bird promotion for the 2011 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix tickets that offer 50 per cent discounts are coming to an end. So if you’re planning to be at Sepang International Circuit come April 8-10 for the local leg of the Formula One championship, now would be the best time to grab those tickets before the promo ends this Monday, 31 January.

“The promotion ends this Monday (January 31) so you fans out there still have a few more days to quickly purchase your tickets and follow thousands of others that had snapped up their tickets very much earlier,” said Datuk Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali, the Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit.

This year marks 13 years that SIC has been hosting the race and the promotion was meant as a gesture of goodwill towards the fans that have been supporting the race. Since the promo kicked off in November 2010, tickets could be bought for as low as RM30.

“Unlike previously, the 50 per cent discount covers tickets from seats at the hillstands to the premium seats at the Main Grandstand. To me, it’s definitely an offer that no racing fan will want to miss,” Razlan said, adding that SIC were targeting 100,000 fans for this year’s edition of the race.

The Formula One calendar has an unprecedented 20 races this year, with the Bahrain GP kicking things off on March 13 before heading down under a fortnight later for the Australian GP and then SIC takes over the reigns for Round 3.

Taking into account the 50 per cent discounts on offer, Hillstand tickets for the K2, C1 and C3 area will only cost RM30 while the Grandstand F, that faces Turns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 as well as part of the front straight, is going for RM200. The Grandstand K2, that faces the opening chicane of Turns 1 and 2, is currently priced at RM300 until the promo ends.

Tickets for the Main Grandstand are going for between RM250 for the Citrine seating area and RM600 for the Ruby area. The Diamond area is already sold out while the Emerald and Sapphire areas are still available at a cost of RM1,600.

If you’re planning to attend the race in April, you can still purchase tickets before the promo ends at the circuit or at SIC’s ticket counter at KL Sentral. Tickets are also available online at www.sepangcircuit.com or can be bought through Ticket Hotline by calling them at 603-8778 2222.

If you’re still unsure about attending the race, additional ticket sales channels will be available from 1 February at Pavilion and Fahrenheit Mall. Other major malls will also be included on that list as well as selected Petronas stations and Redtix outlets.
