Yes, I am referring to my car, which is a CBU Grand Vitara. I heard CBU SX-4 also faced this problem. Anyway, I am not making baseless claims against SMA.

If you guys happen to be Aiman Motors Jalan 222, there is a dark grey Grand Vitara there. You can ask any of the service advisors or mechanics on how long my car has been there already.

I like Suzuki cars. They are an alternative compared to the bread and butter (read: common) Japanese cars like Toyota, Honda and Nissan. But the parts waiting list is seriously ridiculous.

yes, i notice your vitara was at Aiman for many months there as i'm also Aiman regular customer with my vitara service there..if you read on my earlier posting in this topic that i had the similar experience like you when my vitara had the accident, at first i was just had same thinking like you intend to send my vitara back to authorised workshop for repair as worry about original parts & warranty issue.. but after negoatial with one of them at sg penchala and was inform that repair will take about 4-5 months..i straight away tow my vitara to another workshop ( non suzuki workshop but instead accident repair workshop) and the repair was done in between 3 months time and also all parts replaced are singapore/japan source original suzuki parts that come with warranty as well..so i'm glad that i had make the right decision by not sending to authorised workshop.

V406198,
yea, I saw your earlier post, but only after I had sent in to Aiman. Anyway, what has been done, has been done. I sincerely hope that Suzuki Japan will look into Suzuki Malaysia's problem as this is seriously degrading Suzuki's brand value here in Malaysia. It's not an one off case, but judging from the feedback in this thread, it's a commonly acknowledged problem.

I am surprised no one from SMA even bother to respond. I was thinking about getting a Swift 1.5 but having read all the parts problem, thanks but no thanks.

Seriously Swift is a decent car (except for some rattling and some QC issues from SMA).. fun car and feature-packed but don't expect super fast pick-up (though better than Myvis and some 1.5/1.6cc cars).. but handling is sharp (except if compared to Polo.. or Fiesta).
On parts, now come with 3 year free maintenance so should be fine but for body parts if accident, well better to source outside than wait for SMA to order for you..
Seriously, DRB is not up to mark in handling the parts issue.. agreed on this point.

I couldn't say for sure CBU is better than CKD, but I think it is a general understanding that it is better. Considering the working attitude of Japanese and Malaysian. But having said that, BMW and Mercedes Benz also assemble certain models here in Malaysia.

Anyway, I have gotten back my GV on the 5th day of CNY, but not without issue. Apart from minor details such as badge and reverse sensor not fitted, my car now vibrates from 80 to 100 km/h. Brought the car back last Weds and was told that the prop shaft was of wrong dimension. Apparently there was some sort of minute dimension difference between facelift and pre-facelift GV, but I find it odd, since the wheelbase is the same.

As of today, they have ordered the right part and I'm waiting for it to come. I took my car out and live with the problem as I cannot afford to be car-less for so long.

Just to add, if you do read other Suzuki forums you'll see that Aiman motors has a lot of issues and keep giving reasons such as no spare parts for delays in repair. The longest I had to wait for spares is about 2 weeks max for a leaking absorber for my SX4 and the repair was carried out a service centre in Shah Alam. Not defending Suzuki here but I do hope SMA will look into this matter seriously. As common or not so common spares should not take more than 6 weeks to arrive here from Japan.
