what i mean was (yes i did saw lotus tuned) but in reality which part? chassis from mitsu, suspension from kayaba or monroe right? or the design of multilink suspension?

nope in that area...

it was the suspension tuning....

spring rate+damping force combo+antiroll bar size....

because handling+ride n comfort was the most commented area by car tester....

if not with help of this speciality dept all proton car would be rubbish without any goodpoint when TOPGEAR TEAM test it.....

*i compared a satria 1.6 handling with a waja...thumbsup to waja....especially on highspeed corner.... smile_tongue.gif

ok, let me get this straigt.. chassis purely from mitsu
spring rate+damping force=suspension setup + antirollbar is tuned by lotus but stillusing different brand right?

and maybe lotus tuned the chamber and angle of the suspension as well right in oder to get comfort plus handling..
ok here come my enquiry..say one waja owner decide to use aftermarket suspension that hv its own damper rating, springg stiffness n can adjust the angle ... will it somehow disturb the current lotus setup?

my conclusion regarding waja is..stable in highway( so muchbetter than civic)
felt so rigid on high speed corner..(better than civic not so much)
but looses when slow zig zag left and right fast corners eg bukit putus grik..(not so nimble as civic)
cheap and fast wont be reliable
fast and reliable wont b cheap
reliable and cheap wont be fast

*yes indeed when u change to aftermarket suspension set-up,all hard works from lotus guy were gone.....(only some of it left depend on what parts/area of suspension u were working on) smile_sleepy.gif

Original setup normally a compromise between performance and comfort.
By the time it has gone soft, dampers already gone. Changing to aftermarket performance dampers will give you performance but less comfort, unless you go back to Original replacements dampers..... smile_tongue.gif

but the main topic is about waja good handling..and lotus tuned the suspension system to perfection..but handles more better if change to aftermarket setup.that is not lotus tuned anymore..(malaysian hwl better than standard lotus tuned abs?)

i personally think that lotus tuned more than just the suspension..(dunt hv any backup data of fact to support this tho)..somthin tellin me that after they receive the chasis from mitsu,,lotus did some upgrading on that area..? trade secret that only they knows?

take this fact into account..
1.waja malaysian market
2.waja uk spec
3.mitsu charisma(not lotus tuned)
4volvo s40 (not lotus tuned)

upon reading they say each car handles differently..

Tuning all depends on application also. The harder (stiffer) the better the handling. No float no wobble, but that is good for track only, without bumps etc., Try that on a bumpy corner and will end in the ditch.
Road going cannot have super hard suspension......

the worst in tuning a suspension is.. lembut bila kita mahu keras, keras bila mahu lembut smile_tongue.gif

soft when attacking corners, hard when at bumps n humps..hehe, driver worst nightmare!
