Forte Koup & New Optima 2011 : Launch Date & Expected Price?

Since the Optima at this price is a 2.0, then it sounds reasonable. As in Korea, they only have 2.0 turbo (or so, i heard-could be a 2.4 turbo?) or 2.4 spec, and is priced either similar or more expensive than the Sonata YF!

Ya, the Sportage is good also...so for me, it's either the Sportage or the Optima!

2.4 Spec..blah x3 @ 140+k

promotion for forte = free insurance..( for model 2010 only.just a few unit.. only red color.)
for 2011 the price still remain = rm 81800
for 6 speed the price = rm 85800

Optima at RM110k, that is too hard to believe, probably add RM20k more. Comparing the Santa Fe 2.4L petrol at RM165k with Sorento 2.4L petrol RM158k, the difference is just mere few thousands. If Sonata YF low spec at RM138k, then the Optima should be about RM132k region if maintained KIA badge.

Any1 knows whether the Forte with 6-speed gearbox comes with conventional 6-speed used in Sonata/Tucson or 6-speed CVT used in Lancer? Reason why I ask is because the Koup 2.4L sold overseas are fitted with CVT gearbox used in Lancer. I hope they get the conventional instead of CVT for cheaper ATF fluid and much tougher durability.

The Koup will be a 2.0L. Some salesmen told me it is fitted with turbocharger. At RM115k, not sure they are that generous but sounds likely.

The new Sorento 2.4L said already launched but I did not see any when passed by showrooms. Chat with salesmen who were smoking outside, they said they are to be arrived soon. How soon is that?

Hi Jay, which market is the Forte Koup 2.4 sold with CVT? To my understanding, similarities between the Lancer and Forte only goes as far as the engine block dimensions and design. Even the cylinder heads used by the Theta-II and 4B1x engines are markedly different, and to my knowledge they don't share transmissions.

Hyundai-Kia spent a great deal of money to develop the 6 A/T, and for a model like the Forte, I have huge doubts that they'll go through the trouble to source another transmission when they already have one that they are very proud of.
