Sifu g88,

Guess 'bonet' means the engine cover right?

I think only the front bonnet is having color problem, the rest are ok. Will try post a photo later.

I saw some advertisement selling bonet wira with cheap price around RM400 or lesser

Is that mean I can buy bonet front to replace it?

Is it better than painting?

Please advice...

aiseh dun la call me sifu...not qualify at all ler .

Yes bonnet = hood = front cover hahaha.. smile_tongue.gif

Is your bonnet ori or repainted before ?? If repainted before could be due to previous paintjob not good since bonnet is the most sensitive place since engine is underneath it...the heat from bottom and sunlight will bake it...

2nd hand bonnet for Rm400 ?? Very expensive. A brand new ori bonnet cost less than that (exclude painting)..

If your bonnet is ori and never paint before (depend on the condition la)...better repaint it..even repainted before if it isnt' very bad than no need to change the bonnet lor...just repaint it again...

Hmm...the car body color is maintain 90-95% new, just the front cover is having MIX color(grey+white spot).

Is it better to paint whole car? Because I read this forum, many ppl tends to say their wira skin is stained or having white spots/mark after several years.

It looks like the problem happens to wira/proton car only...Is this true??

Sifu advice pls.

You can paint only the exterior with same colour.
If you want to paint only the bonnet, you have to take the risk of not matching the colour to your fender panel and bumpers...

Never mind. I thought it's the "In" thing having the bonnet one colour and the body different colour.

Lol zip2, maybe it's your chance now to get Carbon Fibre bonnet!! smile_thumbup.gif smile_thumbup.gif

Ok, great, will go the shop to ask.

Any idea what is the risk if I buy the bonnet front cover spare part and replace it?

cos it looks like a better option. Any hidden cost?

Not sure about hidden cost, but maybe workmanship cost only??

The car is grey metallic color.

It looks like repaint has the risk of color matching problem and bad painting job risk.

Looks like a better option is to replace a new bonnet.

Right? unsure.gif

Any recommend where can replace the bonnet? I heard it is difficult to find a unuse bonnet.

Please advice sifu(s)

Is the replacement bonnet of same color and how is the condition ?? I think u need to re spray it too right.?

You might hv problem with color matching if only "touch up" the bonnet since u mentioned is old car.

Not 100% sure without looking at your car but my neighbour bought an old wira last time and thought of re spraying it immediately ..Yes ..Red become like pink color. I teach his son to clean the paint wiht DG501 and the car remain un spray till now .. Of course tht old car was full of swirls but the owner are fine with it as long as the shine and red are back.

True, even if you replaced the bonnet you still need to spray the new bonnet unless you buy a used one with the same color. If I were you, i'll just repaint the bonnet if the rest is still OK. As long as your current paint is the ori one, you can ask the shop to paint that same color. Now all color is coded. By knowing the code, they can simply prepared the right color.

With little more RM why not to respray the whole car. For the size of your car, the cost most likely around RM1.5K and RM2.k for external only or complete resprays respectively.

I had just done on my 2nd car. RM2k for the whole car.

Even colour coded, from different batch may differ slightly. Respray small area may not be obvious. Larger areas might see different shade not different colour.
Then again even if colour is the same, the older paint that is on the car have been in the sun for a period of time and may have discolored slightly..... smile_blackeye.gif
