Thank you very much for the info Razibar. Really appreciate it. Actually I heard about the wiper was something like RM300 per pair from FA. I checked over the e-bay and most of the shops selling it are from UK or Germany. And its not really cheap, about RM150 (half the price from FA). Anyhow, since now you said there are some onlien stores in the US are selling it for $10, I will search for this refill. Still have plenty of time. I think I will need it next 6 months smile.gif

Razibar, don't you think the rubber of the wiper will harden if you keep it long?

Powee, I will update you over the e-mail if there is anything. My car is doing 2000KM already, and its getting more responsive. Like it better by day. I supposed it will fully reconditioned by 5000KM (maybe). As Razibar said, if you are used to the Japs cars, the pickup is kinda late, and it takes sometimes to get used to it. But its a solid ride, feel isolated from the road. With Japs cars, you feel you are on the road. (Of cos I test drove S80 that was eeeeeven more isolated from the road - loved it!!!).

fadli15,

u can get the original wiper blade at RM170/pair from an outside volvo spare part shop.

regarding the responsiveness of the pick up of S40, do u use extra floor mat beside the original one?

Dear Andrew,

Where do you normally go for the volvo spare part shop? I think RM170 for a pair of wiper is very reasonable. Thanks very much for the recommendation.

I do not use any floor mat aside from the original given by Fed auto. In fact I do not add anything after buying the car except for the Vkool. I noticed the paddle is less responsive compared to Altis. I presume its the character of the car, and also maybe due to the heavier weight. My style of driving is usually soft on the paddle. Don't really like jerky spirited drive.

your 2.4i throttle respond are abit less responsive compare to those olden model cars are because your car are fitted with ETM ( Electrical Throttle Module )that are control by signal pick up from the sensor that located at your throttle pedal instead of traditional cable control throttle...to overcome this problem you can consider to add the so call ' acceleration booster" piggyback module to your throttle sensor to increase therespond of pick up .

so, this "acceleration booster" piggyback module thingy works...
how much is it?
does it void the warranty?

I could not understand the claim of 8.9 sec for 0-100kmh when the S40 is struggling to reach 40kmh at 2,200 rpm... I test driven for more than 10 minutes and totally disappointed (tested new car below 1000 km).

However, a colleague who has both the S40 and Camry 2.4 mentioned that 'S40 has better acceleration'.

Can anyone please enlighten me based on your experience?

Thanks a lot!

ahamdre,

you must be kidding to say 40 km/h at 2200 rpm? i guess there must be something wrong with the demo car during your test interval. No, it doesnt happen to my S40 2.4i of 4 years old and i would'nt have bought it if it's struggling to reach 40 km/h at 2200rpm smile_cool.gif . I suggest you go for another test drive and please request for a longer route. smile_tongue.gif

if necessary will try to push it further above 2500 rpm and see how it reacts.

I think maybe because it is a new car. My car was very sluggish below 2000km mark. Very very sluggish, very hard to accelerate, and frankly I regret of changing the car then.

But now I am now clocking 4000km..... and its... exhilarating..... really..... Just tried the aggressive ride back home from work last nite, and its not what I had expected. The pickup is very very very good.... no joke... If you can find test drive of about >3000km car, I'd suggest you try it. It will be a truer picture of what the car can actually do.

The love for this s40 grows fonder in me now
