U might want to check out the Q5 - its got the Golf GTI's superb engine with twin clutch DSG 7 speeder ... output of 211 hp for a turbocharged 2.0 (great performer yet easy on the roadtax & running cost ) , new X1 can't even beat it. smile_thumbup.gif

9 mths waiting list smile_angry.gif

update: been about 2 months since the dealer reprogrammed the DPF regen subroutine and took the oil down to 2/3 full. currently the electronic dipstick is reading just full and so is the manual dipstick. luckily no "service required" message yet.
fuel consumption is now averaging 9.4l/100km in a mix of city/highway 65/35 mix. about 7000km on the clock. its still a sweet drive. only complain is the amount of brake dust is horrendous. 2 weeks and the wheels turn black. *sigh* now if only i can get some ceramic pads cheaply in Oz.

I am in the market looking for a SUV, and chance upon this XC60 as it was recently launch with the 2.0l turbo version in SG. And I find difficutly looking at users feedback on this car. Anyway, it was only launch a couple of mths back.. previously they only had the 3.0 T version..same as KL.
I was looking at the X3...but heck when i saw this, it won me hands down...the list of passive and active safety features...golly..
But I have one thing in my mind about all these electronic gadgets....what if it's not working...eg the auto seats...3 way memory and mutiple adjustment all by just pressing a button...what if one fine day the function stops...how then, no manual override??? have to send to Volvo to get it replaced/fixed...I wonder how much would that cost???
then again, if you can afford such a car, these should not even be a question...

This is a dream car - I have not decided but, it is on top of my list...

Anyone care to share if they have any issues with the XC60 after owning the car??

Thanks mate for the confidence boosting news on the electrical seat - I guess, once you get a volvo, it's for life...is it not?haah
Anyway, I am really tempted to get this car...was offered a 15k discount and 7k overtrade for my ride...and can still cut a few more slacks on the servicing here and there...but waiting period is 3 mths or more..

I used to have bad impression about volvo coz my co car was a S80 2.8l twin turbo way back in 2003 and it gave a lot of problems - it spent more time in the garage than on the road, aircon problem, suspension problem, engine problem and whatnot....until beh tahan..
After that, stayed far far away from volvo....so I am not sure have they improved or the co was just plain unlucky in getting the lemon car..

What about the maintenance of your volvo - do you still go back to your dealer or it's an outside job. and talking about outside job, can they handle the sohisticated computer system - lazer and radar, keyless entry, handbrake by a touch of a button, and whatnot gizmo the volvo comes with nowadays...
Say after 3 yrs - wan to service outside - can it be done...i scared drive up to ah beng workshop and he ask you to reverse out - solly, dunno how to service this car.....!!!!
But then again - servicing the car is like once a year thing...so if you keep it for 10 yrs, it's like 10 times service only....

Dammn..I am lost - my heart says this and my mind say a MPV...

The meaning of tag line of "Volvo for LIFE" have few testimonies that been witness by many here..

- The older Volvo models are built stand for LIFE time.. still spotted alots of 240, 740 & 940 running around.

- When any Volvo's involved in any kind of accident, the main victims are alway been the opposition regardless in LIFE or car damaged.. traffic police still dont believe the Volvo driver still alive after saw the damaged opposition car..

- Once brought the Volvo (old or new) the lau sai resale value will never able to off set the loan balance and end up you will keeping it for LIFE.. that why most Volvo drivers here strongly objected Malaysia goverment to imposed the 10 years old car dispose plan.

- Once your Volvo condition are in problematic, you bank saving will gone dry and effected your LIFE style by eating roti very days.. that why alots of Volvo forum are only talking about how to DIY repair their Volvo instead how to modify their Volvo..

The 1st generation S80 T6 are knaw to be problematic and higher maintenance bill worldwide. so consider you had encounted your first experience of " Volvo for life" and think that shouldn't stop you to have second experience in the Volvo ownership as newer Volvo models had improved quite abit interms of quality control and further more XC60 are already in the marker for some years and detective parts had normally been superseded with improved design/quality parts over the year.. and now with newer 2.0T model, it suppose be in better position to give better value of $ interms of the ownership.

For the after warranty service in Sinagpore..maybe you should log in & registed with the Volvosgclub for more detail..many friendly members will help to give their best advise in term of Volvo serive/repair/parts source..
