City Front nice, side nice and rear also nice...but add them up together...looks like not matching...I think they copied the 407...while the french excel in what they are doing, Japanese copy cats just can't get it right...but the Altis for me looks VERY wrong too smile_angry.gif ...308 then?

why not consider a Peugeot 308VTi since its in the price range. power is 120hp and torque is 160hp. feature loaded, modern and more importantly super safe and if the urge strikes its a lot more fun to drive.
uses a dual variable valve timing engine with valvetronic to efficiently balance power and performance.
comes with timings chain for lower maintenance.

just my 2 cents worth.

unofrtunately, there is no civic 1.6 in malaysia while the latio, nevertheless a good car but its just too old. though it was on sale here in 2006, it was actually launched in singapore in 2004. the life cycle is coming to an end. stop the buying and tan chong will quickly bring in the repalacement.

maybe the latest sentra, perhaps?

Just curious, will there be a Sentra replacement ever?

Latio is a replacement for Sentra - in a way. We can all be curious if we want but its up to Tan Chong whether they want to replace the Sentra or not.

Altis 1.6E crusing at 110km/h with full load can get 17.6km/l. Good or not ? Cheers.

hi,

maybe you can refer to this list for comparison of a few models within the 'range'.

Unfortunately, the Altis 1.6e is not in, but the 1.8G is there.

The 1.8G is somewhat the 'flagship' for Altis hence its there.

The reason for the omission is because the 1.6e altis lacks a tad too many things to make a respectable comparison with the rest (even with the 1.8G there's a gulf in what is on offer), of course that is just my view.

as for comfort and reliability, all car in the list should score good points in both areas.

please proceed here:

for the list.

happy reading smile.gif

note:
real world fuel consumption for the new 308VTi as reported by owner in Peugeot section is around 13.5km/L (the car not yet fully running in, so it could be better). the 308 Turbo real world FC could be around 12.5km/L or slightly better.

the manufacturer claim FC (in L/100km) for Peugeot 308 is in the list, but can't get the official figure for others (not officially published).

you guys are here too to convert them.. to see the true light... hahahaha smile_thumbup.gif

for me both car are the same... slim plus/minus between the two... i would suggest.. go for the cheaper.. city... no point spending more for toyota for slim advantages...

no convert job here vediaz.

the more options/choices available, the better it is to us of all, the consumer.

beside, sharing of the information (the comparison list) is the way to show some of the available options in the same price/market segment.

the rest is up to each individual.

You guys are judging the car base on looks, specs and pricing. One thing that's never ever mentioned is the maintenace and parts. What's the point of having the best value for money car when parts are expensive or they are not available in the open market. Honda has started to control their parts and pricing are at their mercy.

Best is to have a vehicle with easily attainable spare parts with reasonable price. You wouldn't want to have a break down in the middle of nowhere and have to tow to the nearest service centre just because the parts are not available thru the local spare parts shop.

Yup..agree with you..that's what most of the "Car of the bla bla awards", "Engine of the bla bla award" being rewarded. Most of the awards does not take in the reliability and maintenance factor in the scoring system. How to give score on this criteria when the car and engine is still new?

Pug 308 might be a very good car in some countries but definitely not in Msia. Why? Although the car outperform most of the Japanese at the same class but I can bet that the Japanese is easier/cheaper to maintain in the long run.
