I`ve a CKD model and have the english version too. Yes it`s change at 80K. The Swift is a very well enginered car and 80K change should not be a problem. If it makes you feel better change earlier as you wish. I certainly will not change ATF at 20K, shear waste of money with this refined car!
I roughly do 30K km per year. I intend to change ATF once in two years, which means at 60K.

Regardless of what the manual says, it should be changed anywhere between 20k - 40k, because of our weather condition. I think 30k would be just nice.

Btw, Swift is not a refined car. Far from it. It's 1.5A engine is rough after certain rpm, and the gearbox is not really responsive or very smooth..... and I also own a Swift, so I'm not ketuking this car. smile.gif

we are comparing with other similar capacity models like vios and city which are also Jap made... Swift appears to be the winner smile_thumbup.gif

IMHO, the only thing Swift is better than say a Vios or City is that it's handling is great and fun to drive. All other things, such as drivetrain refinement, performance and perceived built quality, I think Vios and City is better.

My Swift is rattling at the front (glovebox I guess) and rear (parcel shelf) since the 1st few months of owning it. Other than that however, it is a fun car to drive. smile.gif

Vios and City are well built car, no doubt about it smile_thumbup.gif that is why we can see them everywhere on the road... smile_big.gif

Drive a Swift to be different and you still get N-CAP crash rating of 4 stars even for such a compact car...
My waja only get 3.5 ! smile_angry.gif

Hi. Retractable side indicators do look cool and handy when parking in tight spot. As for the keyless, my fren lady driver once forgot to off the engine of her Latio in office basement. To me, nothing wrong but sometimes such "fancy" feature can cause disaster coz we tend to be lazy and forgetful..

What i really dun like is they take out the autolock when brake pedal is depressed and also the alarm siren/beep. One is a safety feature esp for lady driver and another will cause inconveniences to spot the lamp blinking in broad daylight smile_angry.gif

Summore can save RM300 smile_big.gif
Oledi book one for my wifey.... as for me, still stuck with my wajunk....

Normally if it's just 3-4L change that means what you're doing is just to drain the fluids from the drain sump. The balance of which in the torque converter can only be extracted via a machine.

For my 1.8L Optra it takes in 14.2L of ATF for a complete flush and refill, for a SS, a figure of 10L would be realistic for a change.

If you go for Option one for someone with a tight budget, replacing it gradualy at 20K interval is better, but if you go for a full flush do remember that if you had not done one and regularly and only intend to do so pass 100K KM please do not!!! Chances of GB failure is higher since there's more debris in there and the seals may be damaged due to the extra pressure required to pump it out.

Trust me a flush is always better than a replacement but don't do it when it is too long overdue. Once a full flush is done if you're on synthetics a 60-80K interval is a safe bet.

Do not mix different brand of gear oil together as the diffrent performance and visco will damage the GB in the long run.
The following are my current and my future rides:
2012: VW Sicrocco 2.0T (its a moving target...)
2010: Proton Saga SE 1.3
2009: Suzuki Swift 1.5
2005: Chevrolet Optra 1.8Lt
