Mel, again manual or auto will be highly up to yr preference. choosing a
car is like choosing a wife, if u still single, then that choice will be
yr first wife.
price sounds reasonable for year 90(can still press for lower) but then
again...layman like us would not be able to detect any fault, so bring
along a mechanic whom knows about conti or volvo cars. if not try asking
the salesman(believe second car dealer!!!) if could get the car inspect at
Federal Auto where they charge a nominal fee.

2nd hand car salesmen usually won't allow inspection off premises...you
know themlah, all cut throat buggers. Take a mechanic there to inspect
it. Price wise, push for lower...don't want means just leave. This car
is difficult to push off, so you have the upper hand, as long as you
don't look desperate.
And don't pay any bank handling fees all...most people don't know this
but actually the bank pays the shop for referring the customer and NOT
the other way round like its claimed! I used to work in a finance
company, so I know what kind of bullshit they'll spray.
Manual or auto up to you...personally I can't be bothered to change
gears..

Hi glock19,
now you're talking.... where were you when I need you ha??!! Thanks
anyway, I already view the car, body & engine just OK only. Interier, so
so! Price... last RM13k!! If I go to KL, I can get myself a 240SE or
GLT!!
It really a heart breaking buying a car in Penang as it quite expensive
compare to other state (I guess!!) So, when can we have a coffee together?

Mell74,
what i mention was 940 station wagon(commonly known as 945)lah.. if u look
at below 10K, then must prepare to lower yr expectation lah... there is
not much good looking/condition at below 10K. set yr budget higher, then
the chances of getting a better condition = less problem car.
was in ipoh 2 weeks ago and see quite a number of 240 running around. not
sure how the price like compare to kl but am sure it will be better than
PEN as u describe the higher price.

Agree with mlkulwk. Mell74, you have to honestly evaluate your thought as
to why you want to buy a used Volvo. Have you own a Volvo before or is it
that you think that a used Volvo should be cheap to buy and you wanna get
one ? If you are hoping to get a cheap-cheap Volvo and then think that it
is a wind fall. Then, my experience tells you to think properly before
making any purchase. It could be headache and heartache for you later on.
Or I could be wrong too. And, please don't think or expect the spare parts
to be cheap as well as they are not as compare to most locally available
rides though Volvo parts tend to last longer but many jokers don't see it
that way. Yes, second hand parts are abundantly available but do you have
the time to source for them is another factor to consider as well. As you
can read from other threads in this forum, some Volvo owners started to
say that the spares are expensive. If they really do their home work
before making any purchase then, the issue or question of the spares being
expensive should have NOT been raised at the first place.
Just sharing my thought. Don't flame me unless you have to. I am not
discouraging you but this is real facts.
