I think the S60 legroom feel less is due to the front passenger seats need
to be pushed back more in order to seat comfortably. Hence, the reduce
legroom in the S60 during practical driving. However, the S60 has more
shoulder room to seat 3 person at the back better.
Also with S40 being NA, it also means there is less things for it to go
wrong. Therefore, on long run the S40 should be more reliable.

v406198,
Yup i drove the S60 2.0T with turbo boost and all. I feel the turbo is
only for torque at low end due to the massive weight the engine needs to
pull. For true power i simply rely on my other car i use for track etc.
I've also been told, Volvo will phase out the S60 and carry on with 40,80
and the XC series. I dunno how much truth there is to this though.

The rumor that Volvo plans to drop the S60 lineup, has been spreading in
quite a few auto blogs. It does make sense too, as the 40 & 60 is competing
in the same space as the 3 series and C class. Whereas S80 is not big
enough to compare to the 7 series, so its closer rival will be the 5 series
& E class.
As with the trend that when a next generation of a model is launched, it
tends to get bigger than the one it replace. So if this remains true, the
next S40 should have quite similar physical dimensions with the current 60.
So it means 60 could become obsolete. This may also mean the price point of
the next 40 will be much higher compare to current model to bring it closer
to the 3 series price!!

the new s80 looks like a meaner beefier version of the current 5 series.
i love how volvo has incorporated the new look.
the c class was also an option but the price and options given by volvo
were too hard to resists.

answer to this topic..i'd go for S40 in term of performance
S40 2.4 vs S60-2.0T....did u press the throttle to the max from standstill?
true the 2.0T power not much different compare to S40...but look at the
torque.advantage is always on 2.0T
mid range power also goes to the 2.0T. go and drive it. i mean drive it hard

Hi tpl,
Don't get what factor are you comparing them against - price, size or category?
If on category, I don't agree that s40 is in same category as 1-series or
A3. S40 is a sedan, while the other 2 are hatches!
