Andrew,

Got to agree with you that the S80 is a steal at this price.

Tested it yesterday when collecting my car. Make no mistake, it's a nice
car. Very silent, good ride quality, good handling for a big sedan.
Sufficient power, altho I must admit that I expected more from the 200hp,
300nm figures, so a lil bit disappointed with the power. Perhaps the car
is heavy? It does not feel more powerful than the S40 with 170 hp.

But the sound the engine makes is disappointing, very hollow sounding if
you know what I mean.

And the thing which turns me off the most? The white/cream interior,
which looks very classy when new, but I am sure would not last 1 month in
the real world. Even the steering wheel is white/cream.

All in all, if my impression from this brief encounter is to be
summarized in one word, it has to be "silence". The car is super silent
on the move.

Just from my perspective, of course.

I particularly love S80's plush & soft leather seats. But the light
color is going to be hard to upkeep....

Andrew,

I am sure the S80 is a faster car in the sprint as reflected in the
quoted figures, but it just does not feel more powerful than the S40.

airliner,

Yeah, love the soft leather seats too. But the car just did not give me
the "I want one!" feeling. I suspect that if I were to choose between the
S80 and the w204 now, I might just be more inclined to the 3-pointed star.

Cheers.

I test drove the S80 T5 today.

Best thing about it is the nice comfy, lounge seats. Engine is powerful
enough, drag is slightly faster than the Cefiro 3.0, plus you save 1K on
annual road tax. Smile

Gear changes are not noticeable unlike the older S80. Love the classic
dial-your-preference air cond controls. Audio system is good but can be
better.

Don't like the ultra bright beige cream interior. Will dirty itself
without much effort. No auto rear sun shade or sunroof, but these are non-
essential items.

I would buy this car if I can trade in my Cefiro without having to top up
cash.

Nevermind the crap resale value. I had a Citroen Xantia before the
Cefiro, so I guess I've had worse resale value experiences.

The new S80 has any GPS system and Parking assistance camera like the one
they gonna include in the S40 S60 etc..currently?

If the trade in value for my S40 is good without topping up, can consider
also eh.. hehe

Dunno.. didn't occur to me to ask about the GPS navigation system.

The Parking assistance camera is standard on the 3.2 but can't be
retrofitted into the 2.5. You only get beeps (front and back) on the
latter.

When I asked the SA, the GPS and the rear camera comes standard on all
current volvo models except the S80 which is a 15k option.

But the irritating bit is the LCD screen which stands out like a sore
thumb on top of the dash and which cannot be stowed away.

chongyew, you might be able to trade up if you nego hard enough. I
believe volvo has something like 100% loan on the S80. What they need to
do now is just to give you some overtrade on your cefiro and that should
do it.

If not now, then I am sure in about 6 months to a year's time, there
bound to be some attractive offers from volvo malaysia.

dude if they use the standard volvo gps that thing would retract itself
into the dashboard when switched off. switch it on it comes up, off - goes
down. very james bond. based on garmin so map's pretty complete.

it's on top of the dash for safety reasons, what else, as you wont require
to take your eyes a long way off the road to glance at the map.

small compared to previous volvo models??
