had the same problem but mine even after switching off air-con in a
traffic jam or hot day standstill, the temp seems to pass beyond the
halfway line upto 3 quarter. hv periodically change my coolant and last
change was 1 month back. Discharge water is as clean as new, so not sure
what my problem is. unlike the other car with top screw where one can see
if the water is running when revv(shows the water pump is working). Been
having this problem for almost 6 months now liao.. thats why during
traffic jam, i tend to stay away fm it.

was informed the problem could also be due to sensor reading(engine temp
all ok but the reading could be wrong). both fans functioning.

Any other possbility that i could check first without heavy tools. Cheers..

You didn't mentioned how old your radiator is but without heavy tools have
you checked the radiator fins? Are they blocked with debris, dust, mud
etc? Maybe not enough air is getting through the fins?

Thermostat? Not opening fully thus not allowing coolant to circulate to
the radiator.

I don't know what you mean by heavy tools but if you're up to it you can
unbolt the thermostat housing and remove it together with the thermostat
to check both the water pump and the thermostat. Then you'll really see
the coolant really running inside the engine block.

One more thing did you do a reverse flush of the radiator when changing
the coolant?

billy65, could be that your aircond's low on gas. This will freeze the
cooling coil after a while & no cool air comes out. Turning off the
aircond will allow the ice formed to melt & cool air can come out again.
Have the system checked to determine the actual cause of your problem.
Good luck.

If you use 134a refrigerant, make sure that the system pressure on the
A/C system not greater than 35 psi. If it is the case, restore the system
pressure 20 psi at low pressure line and up to 35 psi at high pressure
line.
