Has anyone paid for services and parts for their Nabiras after 40,000km?

FYI, I found out that the brakes discs (not pads) for our cars cost
approx RM1k each. Imagine the time when you need to change all 4 of them
at one time. Price not inclusive of brake pads or labor. Due to war and
tear we will likely change the discs about 100,000km. Info above from
Volcar.

I wonder how much the timing belt will cost?????

If I'm not mistaken...quoted by SK SC ,toming belt++++ is about RM800-
900.For brake discs, dont think need to change all4 at same time since
front wear faster than rear. Are you sure need to chg after around 100k for
Nabira.Used my x-wira till 200k,disca still okay.

Don't brake too hard too often. It can last longer.

kay es,

Lee said he had a Nabira customer with a 100,000 on the clock who had
worn out discs. He said all four had to be changed. He already quoted and
awaiting reply from the owner. He mentioned that the brake pads are much
more abrasive.

Perhaps we should change our brake pads now... :-)

Goldigger,

Hope you take your own advice and still be around next week...
:-))

Read from Volcar seapark thread. ...Mr. Lee there noted that the brake
discs wear out pretty fast due to the hard compound of the disc pads....

So this is the cause of it. Hard compound of disc pads. Are softer disc
pads available? I don't mind changing pads more often than changing
expensive brake discs. Anyway how much disc pads costs, hard one and soft
one if any?

Hmm, I think it boils down to mainly how we brake and how hard. Hard
compound meaning harder grip and better braking?

But anyway, since it is also quite a big car, am not surprise if it
actually "eats" more disc...

Perhaps we can do something like tyre rotational to rotate the disc to
make it's lifespan longer? Wink

Called proservis spare div- price per piece is RM1088.06.Called SK SC
and the mech said its quite common.Either U skim or replace the disc
depend on the degree of wear.He said he got friends who can get cheaper
spares.Just call him and he'll try .And per him ,Dollah Salleh(I think or
another footballer) will call him to do his Frontera service and even
overhaul. This mech will go to his house and do the job. Will consider this
after warranty period.
And maybe we need to find any spare aprt shop that sell our parts at
reasonable price so that all of us can benefit.

Hmmm...an alternative that I am contemplating is to bring it out to
former OPEL mechanics operating on their own. If I am not wrong, they can
be located in the Other Continental Cars thread. There are also a few
spare parts shops listed that sell the parts for reasonable prices. Thus,
I am not too worried about the absurd pricing that is being quoted by
Hicom.

The car is still new...not many have gone past 40,000 km yet. Once the
large majority of us have gotten to this stage, I believe that most will
do some research and comparisons...if Hicom is not competitive and
service efficient, they won't have many cars to service after this.

I do suggest that whoever is driving a Nabira do some homework now such
as standby mechanic (definately not Hicom or AAM) so that in the event of
emergency, you can get someone with competent technical knowledge to help
you.

Anyway...this is but a small price to pay for the driving pleasure, right?
Wink
