Specifically for the Lancer 2.0GT, I'd don't see the attraction of a
manual here.
As long as the CVT is designed to take the 155hp (which I think it is),
the manual gearbox has no power transmission efficiency over the CVT. In
fact the CVT might be more efficient.
And the CVT gives the benefit of 6 gears, compared to 5... as well as the
improved response times from gear changes (due to the nature of the CVT
plus the fact that you don't have clutch delays).
As far as the Lancer 2.0GT is concerned, I'd pick the CVT over manual
anyday (without taking into account the reliability and longetivity of
the gearbox).
So, unless we are talking about significantly increasing the power of the
car (by modding etc), the manual gearbox holds no attraction for me.
