Well the APV is okay. But it looks too boxy. I will pick the avanza if I
have to. But my cousin's avanza just broke down today. So I will think
twice before I decide.
=========================================
u don't like boxy looks?? think twice.. boxy shape mpv like
Alphard ,elgrand,serena,stepwagon,voxy booming in Japan
one day, ppl in malaysia will change their taste..

If you can consider the citra, why not Renault Kangoo? Test drove it once
and it`s very stable, comfortable, engine not under-seat and not very van-like.

My friend who drove a Avanza AT told me it`s very comfortable in town but
real headache trying to do over-taking on highway. He doesn`t like it
unless it has bigger engine.

The APV also looks like the VW Microbus concept car shown in international
motorshows about 3 years ago, which in a way is quite attractive!

suzuki spart parts expensive, avanza is affodable .. so, which one u want?
APV is SUZUKI, avanza is TOYOTA, what badge you like to see on your car?

The APV may have an SOHC engine, but it still produces more power and
torque than the Avanza's VVTi DOHC engine. The APV produces 92bhp and
126Nm of torque. The Avanza produces 89bhp and 120Nm of torque.

Are Toyota parts cheap? I heard otherwise. My father's old Toyota Corolla
AE/EE80 parts are not cheap. I don't know about the pricing of Suzuki
parts, though.

In terms of badge snobbery, I don't think there's a significant difference
between a Toyota Avanza and a Suzuki APV. With respect, one does not buy a
Toyota Avanza or Suzuki APV for prestige - both are third world specific
cars with basic Japanese mechanicals and built in third world countries
for practical and budget-conscious motorists with a family of 7 and who
want economical motoring/low running costs.

1.6 vehicle delivers 92hp .. but 1.3 vehicle alredi 89hp ...... I believe
out of 100 people, 90 people will choose avanza ... the toyota badge is
quite significant, somehow Tongue

toyota service and spart parts may not VERY cheap, but it certainly
CHEAPER than suzuki ... and the outlook also avanza wins .. ThumbUp

what we can see on the road alredi proved that TOYOTA is still popular
and relaible no matter it belongs to CKD, 3rd world vehicle or
whatever ... but TOYOTA means TOYOTA, people just prefer that name Wink
at least the spart parts also available anywhere.

Whilst a 92bhp 1.6 litre engine is nothing to shout about, the 3bhp
difference between the Avanza 1.3 and the APV 1.6 due to the extra 300cc
for the APV is quite acceptable-lah, and does not reflect badly on the
APV. For example, if I`m not mistaken the previous generation Accord 2.0
and Accord 2.3 had exactly the same bhp rating, the main difference being
torque of course.

As for reliability, I have not heard of Suzukis being unreliable. Being
Japanese, Suzukis should not have any reliability issues.

No comments on Suzuki parts` prices and maintenance costs due to my lack
of knowledge in that area (my family and I have never owned a Suzuki). In
this regard, ManU, if you have had the benefit of ownership experience
with both Toyota and Suzuki vehicles, I will defer to your views about
Toyota and Suzuki parts` prices and maintenance costs.

In terms of looks, the APV does resemble the avantgarde VW Microbus
concept car shown in motorshows of about 3 years ago and looked at in that
light, the APV does seem quite attractive! The Avanza`s shape is on the
other hand totally inoffensive and that in itself is a plus point for a
lot of people.

When discussing MPVs, spaciousness is no doubt a relevant topic. In this
regard, it is to be noted that the APV is quite a bit more spacious than
the Avanza.

Yes, I agree that the Malaysian car-buying public has spoken in favour of
the Avanza but I think that does not mean that the APV is inferior.

If I was in the market for a budget MPV, I would consider the APV, and the
only thing about the APV that would create doubts in my mind is the
unfortunate underseat location of the engine. I`ve heard from a Nissan
Serena owner that once the heat insulation under the seat deteriorates
with time, the seat can get quite hot! The same Serena owner however told
me that this problem is not without a solution - just replace the
insulation with a new one as and when necessary. In this regard, pehaps
aftermarket insulation material (eg. Wurth) could be considered, if they
are superior to the factory or original insulation.

By the way, I read somewhere that Mitsubishi has cut a deal with Suzuki to
sell the APV as a rebadged Mitsubishi in some South East Asian countries.

Hi,
Just got back from Bandung, Indonesia, and I was really amazed when I saw
APV was like Wira in Bandung, there were loads of them on the road, with
various colors mostly black & dark blue. People there really appreciate
Suzuki compared to Avanza (1.1cc in Indonesia). I think because it is
actually assembled in Jakarta & its cheaper there. But I do still think
that APV is cheap compared to other MPV. If you can actually add-on some
bodykits to the APV, it will surely look awesome. In Bandung, APV are like
Estima where they actually mod-up the exterior & interior looking as cool
as high-end MPV. And maybe not many ppl know that the current APV has its
radiator inside the front hood rather than under the seat. I myself
considering to buy APV soon, dark blue color is my target.
