U book the swift then? As Magna is among the smart enthusiast, do drop by

you before, indecisive, now aredy booked mine, was actually among the last
to get one of the 05' model.

Did you call up Mofaz first before dropping by? At least you would want
to have test drive right? Sometime the car may not be there.

As per what Dude35 say, he is among if not the last one getting the 05
stock.

Hi guys!
I went to mofaz yesterday afternoon to check out the smartforfour..
They have one unit...all black n the SA told me that it already booked..

Start the engine to warm it up...but no test drive..

Yeah, they had one batch in JULY which is 06 n eventually it is now in
Port awaiting custom clearance...

They car is quite interesting! The SA told me that the engine is very
different than others...in term of gear changes..
While at the traffic light, we have to stop the whole car in order to move
the car again due to gear changes...
Shock

Is it true? How well u guys manage it?

Can you explain more on what is the at traffic light have to stop whole
car?????

Did the SA drive you around? Who is the SA Btw?

As for driving it, I can leave it to A or M mode. 99% I'm on M mode as I
want to do the shifting myself. Come to stop or traffic light, I just pop
it to N. Go to the smart site and you can see some description of the
soft touch/soft tip. A mode is ok for me. No issues or sensation of pull
back or delay. Maybe got to used to it. I have not drive my 4/4 since
last Friday and I can tell you its torturing! I really missed the
sensation and interaction I have with the 4/4. I'm driving my wife Myvi
because she only uses it for kindergarten and its not exactly good
without adequate long drive hence now school holiday, I'm on wifey car.

The gear slot is like a 7. Push to the left, it will go either A or M
mode. Push to the right, its N. Pull it down, its goes into R.

At anytime you change between A or M. You can also switch to M mode
without taking your hand off by using the paddle shift.

Magna,

Yes...the SA is talking about the pull back n delay!
Maybe it depends on how the driver wants to use the gear...as u said..A or
M mode..Anyway,it sounds so different compare to other types of car...

Well, as you told me...u missed the sensation n interaction...that is
certainly your favourite car!!
Hopefully i can get a chance to drive one soon..Shy

Actually unless the driver is Tatsuya or super racer, our normal manual
clutch actuation is no faster than what the SMART is doing. What SMART
ECU could have done is to off the throttle a bit while the clutch engage
for upshift and that would reduce the engine rev and sound and will
lessen the pull back feel. The delay felt is a normal human reaction. Say
you drive the steering and your friend step on the clutch and shifting
the gear for you... you will feel the same ie a momentarily of no-
activity and hence make you feel ffffooooorrreeevvvver delay. But the
moment you ease of the throttle as it upshift be it in A or M mode, the
pull back sensation is very minimal and I have asked my colleague or
friends if they feel such, and they say non detectable until I told them.
It was a bit tough on first 2 day for me to understand how it works.
