Hello everyone,

I'm driving a Wira 1.8 DOHC. Bought it 2nd hand with 93K kms and now its
approching 160k kms and I think its about time for a timing belt change.
Since this is my 1st experience with 4G93, maybe some of you out there cud
share with me your experience with changing their 4G93 t/belt. How much
wud a PROTON part and MMC differ and where to get the MMC original at a
good price. Could it be cheaper in Jalan Ipoh KL.

Also what are the other things I shud also change?. Seals..bearings etc.

Appreciate your response. thanks buddies..

la if that is the case...otherwise kena tipu because somebody said can get
RM300 only. It cud be the ciplak one.

Hi Abin..
Did the owner change the timing belt before? If still not, I'm consider
you as lucky because the lifetime of timing belt is either 60 000 km or
100 000 km. Usually, it is recommended to change it before the due date.
If let say, u r using a 100 000 km lifetime timing belt, u should change
it by 80 000 km. Sometime the belt brake up before the expected
lifetime. My friend 'putus' the timing belt when the he had 79 000 km.
As a result, he has to spent about RM 1500 to repair his car.
I already change my timing belt when i do 80 000 km. It cost me about RM
380 (parts and labour). I'm very sure that i got an original part
because it's from MMC. It is a Timing Belt Kit (all in one box; belt,
bearing, tensioner etc.) So, make sure you get the right price and the
right parts before change your timing belt.

can you still get the TB whole box kit at the same price today?

minyakitam,

the previous owner had already changed the t/belt at 96k kms. I'm reaching
160k kms soon. So got to budget la for the next change say at 180k kms.
Did u source the parts yourself or got it from your mechanic?

MIGS,

is there a hydraulic timing tensioner?..what is that?. I only know of
hydraulic lifters in 4G93. Just replaced mine with a used one from a good
friend in the forum. The irritating noise in the morning now is gone.

How to diferentiate between ORI MMC and NON ORI MMC. Is there any signs
or whatsoever that I shud look for?

Abin,

If i were you i would change the timing belt immediately. Reason being 2nd
TB change. After sometime the TB pulley might get sharpened and thus
changing the TB early helps to avoid unnecessary risk.

The HTT is there to adjust should your TB slacken up. Normally the HTT has
a pin of which eventually is released so that the TB is hydraulically
tightened.

Bout the ori and non ori MMC TB, dunno...maybe others can shed some lite.
Mine is ori coz the ori ones feels different... By looking at it you
should be able to tell.

cheers

Jepp,
Jadi basically kena budget around RM300++ la. Price yg ko kena tu kira ok
la tu. Masa aku tukar 1.6 aku punya dulu pun more or less at that price
jugak but confirm original MMC sebab the belt tak ada joint...it comes as
a whole belt. Tak ada trace jahit.

Right now pakai 4G93..no experince at all so I have to ask la you guys out
there where to get MMC t/belts at very good price. Better safe than sorry
kan..thanks brader
