Get ready approx 20k, but you don`t need an evo6/7 as an evo 4 will
perform almost the same at the lower end of 10k. In both cases you need to
overhaul the engine before fitting it in to have a more hassle free
experience.

If u want professional transplant without any headache then I recommend GT
Auto Sunway but their prices a bit high (on the average 50-100% more than
normal workshops). If you want slightly more affordable ones but still
good workmanship u can try Stage One Auto near Sungei Buloh or ProDrag in
Shah Alam.

Why evo 4? HP rating almost the same but you get close to 10k extra cash
to modify the car. Add a Microtech LTx8s programmable ecu & TD06-20G you'd
be looking at 400hp compared to 280hp for stock evo 7. With the standalone
ecu you'd maximise your power & torque while it will minimise petrol usage
during normal driving. Also with the new ecu u get brand new engine
wirings as well which comes along with it.

If you need help sourcing halfcuts let me know, I know a few around klang
valley area.

don't waste your time in mivecs, I've got a few of my workshop customers
who use mivec for 1 month and wasn't satisfied with the power. In the end
they upgraded to gsr or vr4/evo. It only kicks on at 5000rpm which is
mostly useless because you rarely get to rev until 5000pm compared to 2500-
3000 for turbo engines.Also 4g93 mivecs are mostly hibrids (1.8 block +
mivec top) so engine management is a must ie. vafc and if they are not
mated properly your car would be in the workshop more often than being on
the road. A 4G93 mivec in most cases is only better than a slightly
modified 4G93 in terms of power but not in terms of reliability.

For waja evo 4 & above is the way to go. It is a heavy car and needs all
the power it can get. Lately there are some halfcut shops selling evo 5s
for around 8k only without body part. Even if you overhaul the engine +
install it would cost RM12k at most.

A hybrid 4G93 Mivec would can actually put out 160-170 wheel hp if it`s
done correctly by a good tuner. A simple straight bolt on will get you
140-150 wheel hp which is still plenty fast compared to a stock car.

But as said, this is conditional upon a good tuner. Not only hybrid jobs,
but even with simple bolt on jobs like VR4s in a Wira, a dick tuner can
screw that up as well. Remember the days when VR4s were all installed too
high in the engine bay, resulting in the tuner punching out a hump on the
bonnet to accomodate the raised timing belt cover? Now, those were and
still are lemons.

As for the Waja, it`s fortunate that the Waja`s engine bay copies that of
the later Lancers. Engines from the Evo 4 onwards are practically drop
ins. But the fact that these transplants are few and far between means
that there will be a lot of tuners who promise the sky but are incapable
of delivering.

And an Evo transplant and subsequent maintenance - especially in a car
not built to accomodate that kind of power - is always, ALWAYS expensive.
I don`t know the price of an Evo5 halfcut, but I do know that it costs
more than 4K to overhaul it, considering the price of MMC Evo parts. Ask
around for the price of some innocuous spare parts like Evo wheel
bearings, or cv joints, engine mounts etc... it`ll be a rare to find
anything below 1K.

In addition, what are you going to do about the suspension? That`s at
least 3-4K for a set of new shocks that can take 280hp. Brakes, a set of
stock Evo Brembos will be about 6-9K completely installed and running -
depending on whether you have to get the brake recond kit. Brembo brake
pads are around 2K per set. Then what about 16" rims to accomodate the
brakes? 16" tyres... and no more cheap tyres. Fuel pump? Exhaust system?

It`s never cheap to have a powerful car. All in all, I`d say you need at
least 15-20K to do a proper, safe and reliable Evo transplant in a Waja -
NOT counting the Evo halfcut.
