I'll have to speak out a bit against the apparent obsession with peak horsepower. What use is an engine producing 260hp if it only makes that power around 8000rpm and above. How often do you get to use that unless on a dragstrip ? The trick here is to produce an engine making as much power as possible but over a wide rev band to enhance driveability. Look for the area under the curve when you see a dyno chart rather than just peak horsepower. Doesn't tell the whole story...

let me also clarify something in this discussion topic. The Author point out "Any Fully Mod NA Proton's Car That Can Beat Type R?" and then so on we came into 4G93 vs the B-Series.

I believe Mr. Keong is refering race in either a straight line or on track instead of on the street. Otherwise the comparison can't really go on. thats my concern. I hope i dont offend anyone.

Now the author is asking about proton 4G93 beat a TypeR. it basically mean to Race. Race mean high rev. Nothing else concern about stablility or driveability of an engine like on the street.

okok lets be fair. when we want to talk about stability, reliability and driveability of an engine that run daily on street, forget about higher rev, forget higher power ... do we all think a standard NA proton can beat a standard NA TypeR?. That`s about it! is this acceptable?.

yOo~ wassup in here ? well, u guy talking about proton car beat Type-R ??? do u think that posible ?
i dont think so , both car is N/A right ? Type-R can reach 11000rpm , proton can or not ? impossible proton car reach that high rev. Type-R is the prefect enjine made by Honda.so far dont have any N/A enjine can beat with vtec.N/A proton dont beat with Type-R la , thats not fair . beat with SOCH vtec la thats will be fair.beat with Type-R dont think about it la sure proton loose one.

I believe Mr Keong was and is always referring to street use and the popular "sprint" kind of racing be it street use or semi-street use.

In regards to your second assumption. The simple answer is most definitely "No"!!!

Coolman,

A stock type R (I believe you are referring to either the DC2/DB8/DC5 Integra or the EK9/EP3 Civic) will never rev to 11,000rpm. Where did you get that piece of "information" from ? Even highly modified examples only occasionally use 10,000 - 10,500rpm...

And the Type R is not an engine. It's a designation given to Honda for highly spruced up performance oriented cars in their range..

who say cant reach 11000rpm ? this is the updated one imformation from vcd i saw, this is Spoon stuff.they design for those ppl want to race on mountian road,
they do test in vtec engine perform run mountian road is the smoothly one , do u ever try b4 run on the mountian road ? u try it 1st then u will get my actualy point what im talking about.thats we call high rev engine.

Type R why not is a engine ? Type R engine is specially use for racing what .Type R got high performance than other engine.

ya. you got your point too. referring to street use and the puopular " sprint " kind of racing be it street or semi-street. based on the Topic/Subject. we jugde to my second assumption, the answer is mostly believe to be "NO"!!

As a conclusion, both Mitsu and honda make good engine and diff. ppl have diff. perception to go for either one they feel which ever comfortable to themselve, i own a SGTi and a converted EF9. That`s why i am confident to bring in some issue on this topic which i had personally experience bought engine in real life. The B-Series engine gain the most hp. We can even shift or adjust the powerbend to mid range based of Spoon spec. even if we just plug in a Spoon Sports ECU the mid range power is already there.
