Hello detailing sifu's,

Long time no post. A few days ago after rain at night, noticed both my front windscreen looked a little blur in the morning. Looks like there is a layer of something/chemical in between the inside and outside of the windscreen, and this causes it to be not so clear. So e.g. looking through headlights or street lamps you can see a "halo" effect. But otherwise it is still "clear"-ish.

Not sure how to describe it, but it is quite annoying. I have tried to clean the inside and outside with car wash detergent and glass cleaner, but it is still the same.

Any ideas? Or should I call Dr. Cermin?

Thanks for the reply bro vr2turbo - we met once at a TT once upon a time. smile.gif

You mean buy normal wax polish and polish the screen? Won't it smear the screen?

I did a bit of searching and found this post which suggested using the Forma Hero Rain Stain Remover - coincidentally I have this also. I suppose I can try this also?

If you have windows tinting it can be caused by the tint adhesive aging, if so nothing you can do but change the tint. If not polishing the glass or using an acidic cleaner like Forma hero rain stain remover might do it. Both are not 100% safe if you are not sure how to use it properly. Even dedicated glass polish products can scratch the glass even by hand. Acidic cleaner can blurr the glass if used without proper instructions.

Like bro. jonlsl mentioned, first check whether is inside (tint) or outside. If inside then nothing you can do, but if outside many thing can do....haha
Yes, normal polish because could be just a layer of dirt. I have done for friends and ex colleagues. But can be many types of problem. Got one even with wipers leaves a oily stain and so on.

If you have Formahero acid cleaner, is mostly safe on the all windows except the front screen. For front screen have to be careful. if the wipers have scratch fines lines on the windscreen (cannot be notice by normal sight) using the Formahero acid to clean make sure it does not dry on the screen, means rinse it fast before it dries. If it seeps in and dries, the windscreen will turn white and you won't be able to see through it and removing that is really a pain. I did for another member and we needed a rotary and compound to slowly remove that..... smile_shock.gif

Thanks bros jonlsl & vr2turbo - tried FormaHero Rain Stain remover but still the same. As you can see the headlights look like they have a "halo" or smearing effect. Otherwise the glass is still clear.

Any ideas?

Looks more like tint adhesive problem.

Formahero is very strong stuff but how did you apply? Just apply and rinse?
For me, to get rid of water marks had to scrub at least 2 rounds to remove them.... smile_tongue.gif

In colder weather salt on the roads mixes with rain, ice or snow and when this mixture dries, salty deposits can build up on your windscreen and obstruct your view. Make sure before any journey you have a full tank of washer fluid with you to clean the windscreen when needed.
