The Sports mode and manual + and - gear shifter on the gear lever. How often do you use it, and when? Just curious.
Thanks.

when overtaking and going ballistic. Also it is great when descend or ascend hills - provide engine braking and better response. When car is fully loaded also so that it feels less lethargic - in my case i'm not in a focus but S-max.

The gear lever +/- button for the Focus is bad design
How can you focus pressing the small button while u are gunning down the road.
In the end, you get sore thumb

Oh okay. Thanks. S-Max is 2.0 Ecoboost. Must be even more powerful in S mode with the 340Nm of torque available.
I just tested the Sports mode briefly at speeds below 50km/h in traffic jam situations. Don't want to stress it too much since the car is still below 1,000km. Once above I will test it at higher speeds.
And yes, even at low crawling speeds, I can feel the urgency of the vehicle when the pedal is depressed. The vehicle surges forward more strongly with better acceleration. It looks like the car is holding onto the rpm longer before it upshifts to higher gear when the vehicle is in S mode resulting in quicker acceleration. Also, the time it takes to upshift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear seems to have been shortened in Sports mode(as suggested in the manual) which may have helped in better acceleration.

I haven't really used the +/- gear lever on the Focus so I can't really say yet, but I can somehow agree with your thoughts. THe buttons look like they are quite small though. Paddle shifters on the steering wheel would be a much nicer option but guess that would have greater design implication.
