Bluff Msians again ? As it is, we are already getting crappy cars from Msian manufacturers, we're stuck because of high & selective import duties, & now get conned by Ford, who ran away from Msia in the 90s, ? When they closed shop in the 90s, I knew this was one company that is truly NOT dependable.
Apart from die-hard Ford supporters & the media who needs advertising dollars from Ford/SDAC, why would anyone want to buy a Ford here in Malaysia ? All their models have competitors that are either cheaper and/or better in safety and/or handling etc. Sad times for SDAC staff. Anyway, this is my humble opinion.
Hmmmm...I think at the end of the day, everything is about business and money. Surely, any company would try to survive and ride out the bad times. And along the way, there will be sacrifices and some people will suffer.
I owned the previous generation of Ford Escape 3.0 and that was quite rubbish and a problematic car. I actually swore that I will never buy Ford ever again back in 2007. The car went in for warranty claims 9 times in the first 12 months of ownership. But that was back then.
Lo and behold, I am now a happy owner of S-max. In fact I think it is one of the best value for money MPV with car like performance. In fact can even out perform and out handle most cars on the road. Safety features are quite good too. 9 airbags....did not even know that was possible.
Never liked the cars/models in between 2008 and until the recent influx of their new models. I am actually quite impressed with the new lineup they have Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo and Ranger. My company car Ranger lasted close to 8 yrs being bashed in a construction site while clocking 200k+ kms. Bought at RM90+k, sold at RM 38k with a broken gear box after 8 yrs.
Brother in law bought the Mondeo ecoboost (2012 stock) at RM 163k and is swooning over it.
Not a hard core Ford fan, but I think they have made some improvements worth noting.
For the Kuga, to be fair, all the model names/types etc are marketing strategies. At the end of the day, they do give you all the specs before selling you the car. So buyer's do make an informed decision before purchasing. But if they give you a specs sheet and deliver you something less, then that is bluffing.
