the car is good.. but just the resale value is way too low among others.
understood that car is depreciate, but not to the extend when we sell of our car, we still need to pay back to the bank.

You mean Ford resale value worse than most continental cars?

Not sure if it is worst than most continental cars...but it is bad from my experience. Used to own an Escape and really lost a lot when sold 2 years later. From 120k to 60k.
But that was before the revamp of Ford new lineup. I am currently an Smax owner and really really enjoy the car. Definitely a keeper in my opinion. Just need to take care of it properly.
I think if you drive a car long enough (min. 5 yrs) and if you dun end up buying beyond your means (like 9 year loans and paying hefty interest), then it reduces the pain of loss somewhat.
Of course the car needs to be reliable in the first place.

Adding to what you wrote is the more expensive car will suffer higher depreciation.

True, unless you like the car or else settle for any Jap or national cars will save you alots, but the driving feels make a big difference so you have to pay for it.

People who are particular about driving feel are the minority. The majority are those people who simply want to go from A to B cocooned in air-conditioned metal container, engaging in Facebook on their iphones. If I'm driving a Golf R or Focus ST, I wouldn't even bother listening to the radio or chatting with friends. I'm here for the drive. But if I'm driving a vios or a myvi, my mind would be straying thinking about my work at the office and family at home. I differentiate my cars into two, one is a driving machine and the other one is a travelling machine. And the travelling machine has better resale.

Hmm.....Ford didn't go the Powershift route for this model.
