Finally get to test the Preve to see if it is really a proof.

I got s test drive thanks to a sales girl at Proton dealer in N9.
I test drove the full spec cfe version, white colour.
Aster seating in the driver seat, its not hard to find my comfortable seating position,
Everything is within reach, much better than the Waja.

Off i go and straightaway i put the lever to manual mode.
I gun the throttle and i was a bis disappointed as i was expecting a shove in the back like what i exp with the Exora Bold.
Then again proton did not focussed on outright performance for this car.l
God, i really miss the hissing sound that is missing when the boost kicks in.i can hear it clearly with the Bold.

It was a short city drive and the car is firm but comfortable.
Its less firmer than my Waja 1.8.
Cabin noise is a bit better than waja.
I took this time to check out the interior, everything is simple.Too simple to me.
Improvement is evidence but more effort is needed here.

Then the road opens up and i head to the winding road to Mantin, using the paddle shift all the way.
I floor ir, and i mean it. The car felt compose and hide its speed very well which boosted my confidence throwing it into the bend.
Steering feel is just like the waja. The car turn without complain and the rear follow suit.
Imho the rear felt more planted than the waja, maybe due to the wheelbase which i cannot confirm.
Mid corner while doing 110kmh a slower car appear. Knowing the car had abs i slam the pedal shut.
Abs kicks in,auto hazard light lit up, the car kept it composure and slow down without any drama.
The sales girl is already silent at the back with her seatbelt on.

I kickdown couple of gear with the pedal and overtake with ease.
Knowing the ability of the car i push harder and harder.
I must say, the handling is good enough to satisfy most of us.
The letdown is the grip from the tyre, i can feel the tyre it letting go at some point.

All these time, the car remains comfortable.lots more comfortable than my waja.
With the pedal, its easy to keep the engine on the boost to pull it out of the corner.
I turn back and i push harder on the way back. Again, the tyre prevents me from going faster.

Upon reaching the city, i shift to normal cvt mode and all the cvt drawbak is felt.
Still, it not as bad with the previous tcu software where the rubber band effect is very evidence.
It is smooth and relaxing.

What i like about this car
1.Ample power. The power delivery is oso smooth. Engine is stilk new but likes to rev. I was nudging the needle up to 5.5k rpm and no roughness felt.
2.Good handling. It will provide feedback to the driver, Only letdown is the stock tyre.
3.Good seating position. Bonus for the driver, bad news for rear passengger.

What i dont like
1.NO LEATHER OPTION!!!
2.Interior needs more improvement. At some part the pastic looks like toys made in china. The gear console is an example.
U made the dash looks good, why not carry down to the console

I know some will say the paddle shift function is not as engaging.
To me it works fine to serve its purpose.
I have drive the latest Pug 408 ang the feel is exactly the same

BTW, the Preve did have conti dna in it.
More than its mitsu or local dna.
Its all in the feel it gives u.

It was tempting as it has the best offer for its asking price.
Plus, if all goes as planned the hatchback will roll out soon and if proton makes it in impreza blue as what they paint their training car, it could be even more tempting.

Still, its not enough to makes me part with my current ride.
Current ride still have some tricks up its sleeve...hahaha
