Fren,

How u format the hdd?

1)Put your XP/Win7 installation boot CD/DVD into optical drive to let it boot, then you can select format NTFS in selected partition.
2)Upon reboot after completed format, please do not select to boot from optical drive anymore. Or maybe you can change your boot option priority from the CMOS. Else, everytime also boot fresh, of coz it'll ask you to format. After 1st format, your hdd already loaded with basic boot OS. It'll continue to install and copy all necessary files automatically unless prompt u for regional/date/time/network settings.

THis shown in Windows environment or in DOS prompt?

If in Windows, check your Atapi CD-Rom driver, but normally most drive sure compatible unless you use a very very old CD-Rom drive, or already got problem.

If in DOS prompt, just press any key to boot lah... or maybe you've inserted non-bootable disc?
