Fellow Fordies,

I finally got my TX3 Sampan after 4 years of oogling at it...
1990 Diamond Black with a leaking sunroof :)

Body is very good for a 14 year old car but suspension is SHITE...
The brakes are still in good shape but I plan to get that changed in the
near future, my ultimate goal is to set it up as an AUTOCROSS car...

Came with a descent CD player but the plastic centre console holding the
player in place is broken in 3 places and now I have a variable holder
for the CD player which causes it to skip and that is bloody
irritating... Anybody got a spare one ???

Currently spending my life savings getting it back to it's prime
condition and no expense spared with parts, everything is brand new and
original either from FORD or MAZDA...

When I got the car I didn't notice that the gearbox mounting was missing
and that itself cost me RM 195 to replace and the 3 tapered washers are
freaking hard to get... I'm still looking around for them and hopefully I
find them soon cause it bugs me everytime I drive the car :(

When my mechanic opened up the timing belt casing, the bloody thing fell
apart and that cost me another RM 385 to replace, brand new for all 3
pieces mind you...

Had to replace the battery tray and that was another RM 100...

A/C compressor is another problem, I suspect the bearing is the culprit
and that's gonna cost me an arm, but I might just change the whole
compressor just to be safe...

I'm missing the door mouldings and the fuel gauge is not functioning
properly... So anyone who's got them or know's where to get them please
tell me... THANKS IN ADVANCE YAH !!!

So guys, there you have it... The story so far on my car...
Future plans are Hi-Lo Suspensions, 15" wheels, a new muffler and better
brakes...

Anybody out there using Hi-Lo suspension ??? Any recommendations ???
I'm thinking of either HWL/Top Perfect or Hot Bits... Any comments from
these users ???

Thanks Guys...

Hi khorne

Am using Titans for my Ford Laser, as is my cousin for his TX3 (smilar to
yours...might want to check them out since you are considering Hot Bits
(almost the same price, I think)

Anyways, congrats on getting your Ford TX3..it's still a head turner after
14 years, IMHO anyway.

cheers

hypocrite,

You say that the HWL's are bumpy...
What kinda spring rates are you running and where didja get them from ???
Anyways I just gotmyself a set of 15" rims with Bridgestone Potenza
G3's...
Anyways TT stands for Teh Tarik... The last meeting we had 3 TX3's turned
up along with a B8T Laser and 2 Focus'es...

Upgrading to 17" rims will certainly look good but your car will be even
bumpier cause of the lower profile tyres... NOT very recommended since
youre already complaining about the ride in it's current set up...
Best would be either 15" or 16"... Tyres for 16" start at RM210 and go
all the way to RM550 depending on brand and size and 17" just add about
RM30 to RM50 more per tyre... overall 15" would be just nice but
remember, it is important to run a good set of tyres cause it's the only
thing connecting your car to the road...

Hi khorne,

Can I just check with you how much did you get the Potenza G3 for, as my
Kumho`s are on their last legs after running for more than 30k km. I think
we are using the same spec rims - 15".

Thanks
