New ford ranger will not last. only fit for transporting those endemic animals around at night.

Is the twin Mazda BT50 a more durable and lower maintenance alternative? Am very impressed with it's car like interior and considering getting one.

Should be similar. Looking at Fighter/BT50 in comparison with Ranger, parts wise, Ford slightly cheaper especially the parts that could not be shared eg. headlamp, bumper, etc. Other than that, the same. Probably Ford brings in more spare parts than Mazda. Reliability and durability wise, both the same and both are good.

The new ones, the Ranger is confirmed good. The Mazda, if it shares the same tech with new Ranger, than it will be superb. I hope the 2 won't be like Fiesta and Mazda 2 where Fiesta is superb but Mazda 2 is fitted with old tech.
