It is not because of typical Malaysian mindset but yes, due to not a choice from the present knowledgeable, well informed and critically demanding Malaysian car buyer. As the saying goes, you can con your customer once but you can’t con all of them all at once and all the time. Just look at the present plummeted proton market share to only 22% in 2012 as compared with say 10 years ago of more than 70%. Even with “tongkat” from the government, you will eventually go kaput if majority shun your product. You can’t survive in this cut throat industry. Quality & after sales services is utmost critical for the continual survival of any organization for now. Please read earlier posting and perhaps you may find the answer you are looking for.

as of today, 28.3.2013, I only managed to catch 2 times of Sonic. 1 sedan and 1 hatchback and of course it was not a test drive car as it was parked at the shoplot area and the cars were in planned (no sticker or whatsoever to determine that it was a test drive car).
Anyway, the most scariest part is till today, i've not even see a single Orlando on the road ! of course my main areas are Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Tropicana, Damansara and PJ areas...but none !!
But I saw a number of Colorodos and Captivas on the road, as much as the Ford Rangers..
But why not Orlando? I just wonder besides its brand being carried by the Naza Group (very lacking in after sales market support) what are the other factors ? Or it just the plain reason of the distributor/service center reason?
p/s: among a few friends that own Fords, they also is currently experiencing a very bad service from Sime Darby Motors...

Thus far, i've seen
ZERO Sonic
One Orlando (Test drive car, around section 14)
Not many Colorados, plenty of Captivas, and numberous Optras and Aveos. The newer the Chevy, the more badly it sells
In my opinion, Chevrolets has been overshadowed badly by Kia and Hyundai...most people had just forgotten that Chevys exists..
Bad service is one thing...lack of promotions is another..

Only Chevy Cruze could still sell due to build quality and adequate engine strength, also thanks to Hawaii 5-O marketing. Under NASA, they are like waiting for gold to fall from the sky.
Have to wait after big event, Chevy might stand a chance when we became automotive hub for South East Asia and covering down under. Thailand is limited due to less demand for certain segments.
It is not Hyundai & Kia that overshadow Chevy. Thing is NASA never place much capital on after sales and there's less marketing for Orlando and Cruze globally and locally. Hyundai-Kia marketed their products heavily worldwide that their every models are mentioned globally with all eyes on them.
The Sonic should be powered by 1.6L instead of 1.4L. Orlando should be diesel powered 2.0L. Wrong engine brought in so they die.

After sales and lack of trained experienced service personels are the big failure and couple with no stock for parts kill the car and brand in Malaysia - Good cars into the wrong hands! What a pity! will die a natural dead!!!! They are real damn good at selling and at real good low price (due to????) But after sales and parts - owners buy and die also they dont bother! pasar malam /pagi altitute, pocket 1st and dont be bother for long term business.
