2. Reliability
3. Resale value
4. Parts availability
5. Authorised service centre accept to service
6. Fuel consumption
8. Heard the brakes not so effective
9. Prices fetch for 00,01,02

Thanks a lot

1. Maintenance Cost
After 47600 kms, only major change has been the brake pads. The rest is normal maintenance like oil. Air filter not changed yet but oil filter is regularly changed. The 10,000 km service interval should help keep costs down.

2. Reliability
No mechanical problems so far. No strange noises.

3. Resale value
Good question.

4. Parts availability
No problem.

5. Authorised service centre accept to service
Quite a lot of Ford Concessionaires workshops.

6. Fuel consumption
Pretty good on highway.. rpm is lower than many other engines when cruising but can be a bit thirsty in town, depending on traffic conditions.

8. Heard the brakes not so effective
Not true.

9. Prices fetch for 00,01,02
New prices have not chanced since launch. If you can get the Special Edition as secondhand, that is a good buy. But don`t be conned into paying more because all the extra goodies were given free and the version cost the same as a standard one.

Good day,

Why so difficult to find 2nd hand Escape? None in autoworld also.

I am searching for one. Need a few to compare and satisfy my requirements.

Escape must be so good of a car, I won't regret for getting one.

few info for Escape:
I've driving Escape for 7 month:

Maintenance cost - since mine is still "new", no comment on
part cost, BUT, changing lub oil & oil filter for every 10K KM
is reducing your cost already (normally every 5K KM). Paying
oil filter for just RM30+ for every 10K KM is consider "cheap"
for this kind of car. My advise, go for good lub oil, I've always
using Petronas' fully synthetic Syntium 1000.

Repair - BECAREFULL when it comes to engine & other electronic
parts.... I advise, go to authorized Ford. Escape is equipped with
SMART electronic management system, which any defect of
malfunction (event any tiny part) can be detected by Ford
special "F-1 like laptop computer". All authorized Ford Conc
provided with this computer which will be connected to the
electronic port (underneath steering) & will detect any malfunction.
My remote was "weak", but when I sent it to Ford, the computer
detected the receiver was loose & they fixed it.
Other friend forgot re-connect his airbag after installing cushon
cover & airbag light kept flashing, the computer again detected
the airbag was not connected
so..... never go to UN-authorized one for repair.

Most of Escape owner satisfied with the car & have no plan to
sell it. Cool

One more thing... about brake.

Beside ABS, Escape is equipped with EBD, electronically controlled
to individual tyre. If you are not familiar with it, you will think the
brake is not so effective.

I am driving Focus with 4 disk brakes with ABS only. Braking is so
powerfull that if you press brake pedal too hard, it will give you
"emergency" like experience. Focus is build for Speed, for speeding
driver like me!... so I need this type of brake.

When I first drive my wife's Escape, I can fell the braking different.
Escape will not give sudden stop even you press the brake hard.
BUT, Escape give me braking confidence at any condition,
during full of load (my bonnet full of stuff during balik kampung),
climbing/slop & even at high speed. The braking is great & balanced.
The EBD will distribute the braking force differently to each tyre,
so you will get balanced braking from all tyre.

I've driven my Escape thru highway, climbing Mt Kinabalu, long
distance thru Borneo's highway, hilly & lots of cornering road
(I am staying in hilly area). It's great & superb handling... I really
like speeding when taking corner, very stable & comfort! Except
for the auto transmission that no so powerfull climbing
Mt. Kinabalu (I wish they produce manual transmission also),
other than that... I am more than satisfied!!Cool

I have been a happy owner of the Escape for 14 months now - the vehicle rides beautifully and I have not driven anything else that feels so rock-solid at this price level.

After my first 10,000km with the vehicle, the fuzzy logic seemed to have adapted to my style of driving - it felt smooth and willing, and a joy to drive. However, last December I had to park it for a whole month as I was travelling.

The vehicle then "went back to Square One" - I thought there could be a time-sensor on the program and maybe I had to let it get to know me all over again. It went back to feeling EXACTLY like it had felt when it was brand new!!

However, it has now been three months - and it still has not re-adapted. Could there be something wrong?? Please help .....

The adaptive programming should not be 'lost' unless the battery is
disconnected and the memory is wiped out. Did your battery die off during
that period?

I had one occasion when the programming went back to default and that was
when they needed to work on the engine. It should normally take 90 kms to
adapt to your style and then as you keep driving, it gets more and more
refined.

Thank you, Chips - I was rather hoping you would come to my rescue! As far
as I know, the battery had not been disconnected during that period of
being parked and neither did it go flat.

I have just remembered - I DID send it for a service at FORD just before
the Lunar New Year, so is it possible that the boys there may have
disconnected it for some reason? Whichever, it has then been another
4000km since that time .... I am curious WHY it has not re-adapted.

Could it be that I have a corrupted program? The problem now is that the
gearbox kicks down too easily and cruising on the expressway is frenetic
instead of leisurely .... low-down torque is also gone and I need to rev
it up a fair bit to get going .... Is it possible now that it has become
non-adaptive and keeps going back to the default-setting at each start-up?

Other than this nagging problem, it is a wonderful vehicle - I won't be
due for the next service at least for another 3 months, but do you think I
should bring it in for the boys to take a look? Thanks a bundle!!
