You have changed the ignition coil, so I presume you have checked the plugs and the cables as well...

Next thing is to check the fuelling system... fuel pump, filter and valve

and make sure the throttle body is cleaned as well..

Brava is a problematic car. Some years ago I bought a very nice one for $36K, looked like new. Enjoyed the handling, but soon got tired of fixing things. Every month something would go wrong. When the gearbox packedup,I had enough of it! Changed the gearbox and sold it, could only get $22K after 2 years use. Saw the car last year, was in bad shape. I guess the owner could not keep up with the cost of maintenance.

Sorry to say this, but I`m not surprised on your problems inspite of spending so much already. If you are a Fiat enthusiast, get the Bravo. A lot less problems, especially the gearbox, since it`s manual.

I'm surprised at your statement about Brava being a problematic car. I owned the car brand new from 1996 right up to 2010. Never did the car disappoint me. Upgraded to the Nouvo Bravo which is another excellent car. Obviously your car was trashed by the previous owner and you had to handle all the massive wear and tear items on the car. But if you owned the Auto tyranny then I guess you are right to say the gearbox is unreliable-its Aisin (Japanese made gearbox) and its a problematic gearbox which was mated to Fiat engine.

Anyway, my car was bought by Fiat enthusiast, owners of Sykt Glory Auto (dealer of Italian car parts in Jln Ipoh). They knew the condition of the car and was willing to pay the price I asked for knowing they will not encounter any mishaps.

So if you chose your car well(2nd hand), it should last you longer than expected. I have friends who drive 2nd hand Toyotas who are cursing as the car visits the workshop more often than they go shopping for groceries.

And always make sure you have a good mechanic too..a poorly skilled one would probably mess up your car further.

Mcnet18,
Please visit Goodwork Auto in Old Klang Road tel: 03-77811143 and sort out your problems.

MCNet18 - your problem could possibly be your TDC sensor. This sensor although it does not show any fault code or error, causes the engine to die off intermittently while on the move. It's not costly to replace.

Your car would only be problematic when you do not send to the right people to maintain the ride.

I have owned a Bravo for the best part of 8 years. The only major thing that I have done was a top overhaul. Other than that I do regular maintenance service every 5k km using synthetic lube. I renew transmission oil every 30k km. I renew my coolant, power steering fluid and brake fluid once a year.

What's so hard about maintaining a Fiat?
