yes, i also would like to know the maintenance part of owning Ranger.
how much cost of Brakepad/brake shoe, Timing belts etc...

i got myself a 2003 Ranger Extreme model almost a month now. still learning the behavior of this beast and the technical part of it.

Anyone here driving Ranger (or any other make with same cc and diesel engine) can share how much mileage you get for a full tank? I think mine quite low..average RM80-90 of diesel can get me 400-450km only. Is it normal??

thanks.

i am here with good intention. pls don't get me wrong ya.

the bad thing that everybody says about ranger has actually happened to me! the gear box kaput only after 3 years of faithful service. warranty over even with extendended warranty. i always told myself 'built ford tough' is not only a slogan but indeed the juice of owning a ford pickup. how much? new one rm 17k plus w/o workmanship. overhaul rm 8.5k all in. even local half cut ( harder than kena magnum consolation) rm5.5k. to me, i feel like being cheated by 'built ford tough'. just produce something what you promise . . . tough... tough .... tough... i really don't see it.

to be fair to all potential buyer, beware of this issue. btw, the middle drive shaft coupling will definitely kaput around 50- 60k mileage. make sure you add that into their sales order when you sign it. my case " ooo, that is not included in the warranty parts"...

to be fair to sime darby, the pickup is really a good servant apart from what i encountered lately. if you ask me what is the 1 thing i like about it, i would say is the combination of all 1's need for a pikcup! handsome looking, moderate height for cabin and cargo, powerful engine, joy of 5 speed cruising, ergonomic and classy interior design...

fuel consumption wise, mind is about 550km for a full tank. service charges varies but quite standard compare to other brand. 10km service interval, engine oil, fuel filter, air filter, axle oil, transmission oil etc change all in the service schedule.

I owned a 4X2 Auto Ford Ranger for about 6 years plus... got it on Jan 2006 and was only sold this month to change to a 7 seater SUV. My conclusion, if I were to buy another pick up, I go for the Ranger again.

I think I am lucky, so far, I have no big issues with the truck. Engine is good, still strong after all these years and comfort I feel is so much better than the other made, only complain is the passenger leg room is horrible.

I do scheduled maintenance but I did it at Goh Service in Klang and these guys are friendly and good with reasonable charges, far in Klang for me but worth every trip I made. The people did Ford for the longest time and they are really expert in Ford. No long queue, no lousy service and 99% of the time, they fix my problem.

Normal service cost me about RM160 per 10km service interval. If I remember correctly major should be about RM400 only.. mine is cheaper cause its 4X2... 4X4 will cost a little more. In comparison to my sis Myvi, I think I paid less for maintenance. So far some of my major stuff to replace is the glow plug, RM100 per piece, all 4 gone but that's part of wear and tear. Lower bush arm replaced recently.. cannot remember RM400-500? But only after so long replace... ok la...

I heard service at sime themselves suck, I called before to check price, they are expensive too!

Hey guys, where do you send your Ranger for repairs? I need help cause my reverse gear jammed and I refuse to go to the Jln 205 service centre because they have been giving quite bad service.
