hmm, i dont know, never had the chance to try s40, but waja couple of time..wandering what else the trade secret of contis good handling,? let me try to "kaji" something that a car with good handling should have.

1)good chassis geometry---->its so subjective, and what else can we modified?

2)multilink suspension---->difference felt

3)stiffer suspension system---->yes it improved a lot, less body roll but comfort gone

4)chassis strengtening(af)----->feels rigid n firm,less flex..

5)aftermarket bushes---->eliminate body roll but in d expense of comfort.(ktak, ktak all d way)

6)broader rims----> it gv d feeling of ure in ur car, not on ur car..but sikit sangat lah

7)strutbar n bigger arb--->same effect as upgrading suspension system

8)semi bucket seat--->ure glued to d seat firmly..

that 8 factors did improve handling but..its a point a to point b vehicle! bukan nak pergi track..(and im not a track kaki, just wanna hv a good handling car!)i tried an old merc(that has the masterpice emblem, dunno what model)..i like how the car handles..and i personnaly think after all d modification my car still dont felt like that merc

Good point... smile_thumbup.gif
Meaning...
A crap car is still a crap car no matter what we do modification on it...

Mmmm... not entirely correct...
On Normal road car... yes... agree...
On Mod-Normal car to race... different...
Especially in races like BTCC, WTCC, Rally, etc.

Proton is quite smart about this matter...
Wira - Karamit Singh - Rally
Waja (Impian) - BTCC (British Touring Car Championship)
Neo - Rally (latest news heard)

These said car are bare strip to the chassis... nothing else... all other parts are mods...
So... a car body chassis plays an important role in a car rigidity and handling...
Everything is just cosmetics and make-up... smile_big.gif
Cheers mate...

Proton Impian (Waja) - UK version - BTCC - Year 2002 - 2006

during wira rally nothing to be proud of since the chasis was directly comes from mitsubishi...

while waja is the first proton own R&D chasis (in reference help from mitsubishi)....thus that car handles really good and manage to score a respectable point and podium during BTCC races....(loses to others in straight line power)

and this latest neo in S2000 rally format shows its true chasis potential...(even the drivers appraise its handling and chasis)....and plus side....the old engine from waja BTCC have been improved further and capable to earn some respect....

so actually proton was capable to produce a car that have handling character well matching other competitor..(since lotus always have their hand on handling dept.) and this emphasize proton's handling potential even more.....

in this TS case....i suggest u to spend some time to test your candidate throughly before making any decision...because first drive impression could be wrong...could be right....so to be more assured pls do take your time....don't rush... smile_thumbup.gif

let me calculate the "sum" of madness (in rm n equivalent to) that me and other fellow jap car enthusiast paid, pay or will pay for the love of their car n reaching car nirvana as it could..and all these thing happen thanks to d image(that couldnt b erased yet) of contis n national made waja shows altho it has a class on its own.=sparepart sourcing, mech hunting---build qualiti issue. 2nd hand value is out of question because im referring to dirt cheap under 30k and a bit aged wear n tear car..

stage 1=interior+ICE+handling= exceed the price of 15yo zx

stage 2=engine swap=exceed the price of 13yo pug406

stage 3=fine tune of everything=exceed/same price as 14/15 yo bmw 2.0 e36 or merc w124

to keep an open mind and embrace contis or forgiving national make build quality really need time, research n try to drive the car for a while..

money wasted yes..but the hmmmmm n mmmmm yet to solve b4 switching camps
cheap and fast wont be reliable
fast and reliable wont b cheap
reliable and cheap wont be fast

I have seen a Singapore register Lancer, same shape as the Waja. The front is the same, except the rear lamps are different just like the Wira and former Lancer also. I doubt the Waja is from porton own R&D.

As per topic, I vote for the ZX in handling, but for modification and upkeep, the Waja will be better..... smile_tongue.gif

or actually u did see this lancer??? smile_tongue.gif

*lancer cedia....(use gasoline direct injection system-GDI)

-or better known as lancer ck....(thats why mivec ck can fit into waja/gen2/neo chasis)

because proton saga use lancer fiore (as basic chasis)....when comes to wira then use lancer evo1-3,then waja and latest use lance cedia /evo4 and above chasis type...and yes still using mitsu chasis tech. but have been redesigned here and there beneath it to suits proton more...huhuhuh...
