Bardahl 5W-40 fully syn is good with my Persona.

Last month SC open the oil pan to repair (damaged oil drain hole)...the lower part is clean smile_thumbup.gif The Persona is now 54,200km travelled. Last 4 oil change been using Bardahl. Before that on Shell HX7 semi. Oil change every 5,000km

At that price the Bardahl is even worth using at 5k km OCI..... smile_thumbup.gif

hi guys, i will be sending in my car for the 10,000 km service. from day 1 until now i have been using Petronas Mach 5 mineral oil 10w30.

given the options (not many, though. Authorized proton service centers make u use either Petronas or Shell to cover warranty), which type of oil should i go for? continue with Mineral or use the Semi-synthetic?

currently with my conservative driving culture, 60% highway 40% city, i am getting about 10km / liter. (which translates to RM 0.18/km).

just sharing,

better use 1 of this,

Semi synthetic 10w-40. Since you just bought the car, change brakes fluid and atf also.....

After I bough the car, i have done the service for engine oil and atf. Currently using Total quartz SS 10W40 (already 7000 km) and proton SPIII.. the carfeel heavy. Then when I went through the manual CPS engine should use 10W30..

Would like to try this grade. But worried with my driving, this grade is light and don't have good protection on the engine.

Still in dilemma which grade is good. The car should have good response and feel lighter but with good protection when most of the driving speed at 120km/h. Especially weekend travelling..

I mention 10w-40 because your car already done 100k plus already. If your car engine is not consuming engine oil you can try 10w-30, however just make sure you check the oil dipstick every 2 weeks or so, or before and after outstation drive. If everything ok, then can continue using 10w-30.

10w-30 gives the same protection as 10w-40. Only the oil viscosity is lighter therefore if engine is old and worn it may consume some oil that is all......
