Recently, BMW Malaysia took a group of bloggers on an excursion to Belum Rainforest Resort in Perak.

I wasn't there, but according to one of the bloggers, the route taken was "KLCC (Mandarin Oriental) - Mutiara Damansara - Tanjung Malim - Tapah - Ipoh - Gerik - Pulau Banding (Belum Resort)".

Here are what a few of them have to say
- 3iLinG: Dynamic Teasers?
- i'm saimatkong >> BMW 3 Series & 5 Series Diesel Car Test Drive @ Belum Resort
- Robby Angel of Insurrection: Short Post - BMW Drive

The blogger 3iLing followed up with a new post: Eco-Bloggers Diesel Drive 2009 - The Diesel Myths

Another follow-up post from the blogger 3iLing: http://eiling.blogsp...te-driving.html

On another note, I'm getting the 520d from BMW today. Hoping to do 1,000km with it in a tank before returning it.

This is my latest test drive report of the BMW 520d. It does not follow my usual format of a highly technical report telling you about the car's horsepower, or handling, or whatnot. You would notice that I did not put my usual spec sheets, or even shots of the car from multiple angles. The picture gallery is essentially a 'diary' of my 1,200km with the 520d.

The overall message behind the article isn't entirely focused on the 520d, but more on diesel power as a whole.

A travelogue with the BMW 520d

Thanks! But, I happen to know that somebody actually managed 1,042km (or was it 1,024?) per tank.

hey Gunner, Good writeup I must say. From the article, it is obvious that now everyone is holding back in changing to a diesel car due to 1. misconception of diesel and 2. the quality of our diesel fuel in malaysia.

I think it's high time that our country look into upgrading the diesel fuel because in doing so, it'll spark an entire diesel car market to grow! probably because proton and perodua cars are still petrol fueled vehicles, nobody cared much about diesel technology.

Yup. You got the intended message. I have been an ardent fan of diesel power for a number of years, having been closely following developments in Europe. I salute BMW for their audacity in launching 4 diesel models, and I certainly hope these models succeed, because it will pave the way for others to come in.

Yeah, and I'm not the first motoring writer to call for it.

Actually, some years back, Proton did come out with a diesel variant of the Wira, but it never really sold.

Just 1 question, since the test involve the fuel consumption efficiency and you almost ran out of fuel in this test run. Why u didnt prepare a bottle of fuel with you just in case??

Is for safety reason you know, my friend ran out of fuel in the highway (Fuel meter rosak). Parked the car in the emergency lane, in 10min time he was robbed with a parang pointed to his neck.
