Darreltian,

Always go for the lowest visocity with the xxW30 or lower. The first digit before W denotes winter operating temperature. Motul, Torc and Bardhal are all good branded all, so too are ENEOS, what is important is the visco, oil stability at high tempreture. You can get a Used Oil Analysis, UOA from Frankie as well, to see and compare how long can each oil last before it is totally worn out.

bro, how much u r getting for amsoil?...but 0W is for extremely cold weather for easier start-up and quick circulation...izzit suitable for our hot climate?

Frankie quotes RM160 for 4Quarts, i.e 4L equivalent, I'm on my seventh oil change... My Optra already clocked 160,000KM. Prior to that I was on Royal Purple 0w20 twice and ENEOS 0w30 from 30,000KM on my odo.

Look at it this way, oil grades always improves, last time it was just API SL, then it's API SM. Does it mean that you should stick to the older grade oil just because it was the last word printed on the manual?

I work for the drilling fluids business as a sourcing specialist at one time, and now I work in one of the smaller operators, I'd think I understand more about oils, viscosity and wear and tear better than the average man on the street.

If you want to go on using the old specced oil, it is ok, but because it is more viscous, it takes more effort for the engine to move.

My new swift which I bought for my wife, will go on Amsoil regardless what the warranty or free service offered. How can a mineral Castrol be better performing than a fully syn.

If you're well pocketed then go for Ester based oils, which in most cases are derived from vegetable oil... Redline has ester based engine oil... These goes for over RM200 for 4 Quarts or 4 Litre equivalent.

The following are my current and my future rides:
2012: VW Sicrocco 2.0T (its a moving target...)
2010: Proton Saga SE 1.3
2009: Suzuki Swift 1.5
2005: Chevrolet Optra 1.8Lt

These two do more marketing than anything else, for the best work for PnP might as well go see Bapak Setan who actually does machine shop work for proton MME at one time. The Honda Civic VTEC that was humbled by a simple 1.8L Putra was created there. He has a modest shop in near the Coke / Ikea area and works only at night...

bro, can let us know more on how to locate Bapak Setan at Coke / Ikea area?...any address or contact no. you can share with us?, ie. does he has his own w'shop that we could go to?...many thanks for your reply... smile_thumbup.gif

We usually recommend to our clients who wants performance enhancement in their car in the following procedure for optimum gain vs money spent:

Ecu Remap
Better airflow air filter
Grounding cable (for Jap, Korean and malaysian car)
Better Exhaust typically would compliment a remap further, but its not cheap to mod exhaust, so depends on individual's budget

A bit sceptical that grounding cables and air filter will help much in an NA car. ECU remap n better exhaust might help but again not that much in a NA car.

we can expect around 111hp after remap

but my strongest recommendation is to look for bro. pira coz he will diagnose ur car first and let u know ur car condition...he is able to offer up to 15 stage of mods...for daily drive normally is up to stage 5 where the mid range power & torque is improved for easier and confident overtaking....above stage 10 is not suitable for lady driver smile_evil.gif ...hahaha... laugh.gif
