Audi Q5 is selling at RM299k otr without insurance. And the car is in high demand. Waiting period is 6 to 7 months now!

Will Volvo Malaysia revise the price of the XC60? smile_tongue.gif

Does federal auto or Volvo Malaysia has any plans to bring in the new V70?

The V70 line-up has been missing for quite a number of years now. The V70, looking at UK prices, is cheaper and has better fuel consumption than the XC60.

Volvo XC60 will face the following challenges in Malaysia.

1. The current model of 3.0 will be disadvantageous as the road tax for 3 litre car is a killer.
2. I understand that the 3 litre version has a thirst for the unleaded. Again, it will prove to be bummer if one is considering a family car.
3. The price of RM330K is so much more than rivals like Q5 or Tiguan. It makes it unattractive
4. The alternative diesel models will not be able to cope with the diesel quality in the market. Hence were not brought in in the first place.

I was actually interested in XC60 as a possible replacement for my S40 as my family expanded. But given the abovementioned issues, I wonder I really need to consider other alternatives. smile_sad.gif

yes given the newly launched Q5, the XC 60 will certainly face a huge competition..
altot in terms of styles and outlook, i still prefer the XC60..

but the Q5, u only pay for 2.0 road tax, less thirsty, this will be the main factor for this segment..
and Q5 in every aspect doesn't lose out too much to the XC60..not to mentioned the famous Quattro system.. smile_thumbup.gif

hopefully later Volvo will come out a cheaper version of XC60 of 2.5T 2WD, and selling at 250k, den surely it will lure back some customer back.. smile_blush.gif

I quite agree that at RM330k, the XC60 will indeed face stiff competition from the Q5. There is however hope that the price will come down as the prelim pricing is based on the XC60 being CBU but alas even after this possible price drop from future CKD, other points to consider would be the roadtax and fuel cost (higher RON unleaded) of the XC60 against the Q5.

Though I prefer the outlook of the XC60 over the Q5 but as a makan gaji kinda guy, I will likely wait and see what happens over the coming couple of years

It will likely be awhile to wait if at all, for Volvo to expand its line-up for the XC60. Currently, the petrol models are limited to the 3.0 T6 (the one being launched here) & 3.2 NA (238hp). There is a 2.4 diesel but Volvo had already mentioned before that given the quality of diesel available to consumes here, is difficult to introduce their diesel offerings here. So unless they come out with CKD soon, the other possible means to drop the price is by "removing" some of the canggih features of the XC60, which I doubt they will do smile_sad.gif

Comparing the 0-100 specs, the XC60T6 takes 7.5 secs compared to the Q5's 7.2 secs and let's keep in mind that the latter is only a 2.0 Turbo smile_blackeye.gif

hi richard,
altot there is a big diff in hp for the Q5 & XC60,
but in terms of engine, i think audi still have the upper hand.. smile_blush.gif

the audi TFSI engine is build for performance driven and equipped wit high tech stuff..
direct injection, turbocharge, audi variable valve lift system together wit the 7 spd S-tronic twin clutches gear box system.. smile_thumbup.gif
this all contribute to a very well match package and at a very attrative price too..haha

for XC60, i jsut hope they get a CKD 2.5T 2WD version..altot it might takes years..
i dun mind they take out some canggih stuff which are not pratical for our Msia market, like BLIS, LDWS, etc...@ a more attractive price which benefits us..
otherwise it is still a Volvo..Volvo For Life smile_blush.gif

I really hope Volvo Malaysia will read this forum so that they know the sentiments of their customers. I agree that a 2.5T XC60 with CKD price would be an attractive proposition for the Malaysian market.

If its priced at RM250K, I will confirm myself as a buyer smile_tongue.gif
