Would appreciate any information about 850R compared to 850T5. What year
is this car manufactured? How many units are there in Malaysia? Are they
strictly in manual or do they come in Auto as well. How much was the car
when they first arrived here. Any other info is highly appreciated.
Maintenance cost compared to 850T5. Easy to get spare parts? Etc-etc.
Thanks.ThumbUp

850R was manufactured brought here by FA in 1996....approximately 18-20
cars were brought in and 2 Sultans bought them as well ...yellow R may be
still with Sultan Kelantan where as TM Pahang owns the red...the rest R
scattered everywhere...penang...kedah...malacca...labuan....n not to
forget KL itself. They came in with manual n auto gearboxes...so again
scattered everywhere! Newly launched price close to RM300K with a free
advanced driving courses in sweden! Spares.....not a problem...mostly the
same with 850T5 except front bumpers n dashboard....plus rear
spoilers...wanna buy bro?????

Pocik71,
Actually I prefer sedan compared to wagon but I want the responsiveness of
turbo. So end up looking for 850R Automatic but might consider 850T5 Auto
wagon if cannot find one.

Cap48,
Talking about “850GLE's getting serious on upgrading to 850R!!! Look out
T5 owners/drivers!!! Another "flying" Volvo in the offing!”, I have just
joined you in the saman ekor club. Sob. Sob. Got a ticket for going at
113km/h in a 90 km/h zone. Honestly, I believe the area should be 110km/h.
VOCM members know that I am a ‘law abiding driver’ that does not break the
law unless under emergency situation only.

Volvo forummer,
Anybody know about a 850R that appear in the Star paper 2 to 3 months ago?
If I am not mistaken, the previous owner is staying in Subang, advertised
the car for RM65K, car number plate 8898, company car, might have steering
rake problem and perhaps now sold to a new owner in Taman Perindustrian
Pusat Bandar Puchong. Is this an automatic or manual car?

A Toyota salesman gave me the brochure of Toyota Kijang. This car will be
on sale in Malaysia next month. They are taking orders now. Those order
now will only receive their car in July. The price is RM88K and RM3K is
needed as deposit. This is a MPV – quite the same like NazaRia except it
is 2000cc. Ought to consider that as well as nowadays family would like to
travel in comfort with lots of space for children to move about.

Latest news!!!! Sold my precious metallic beige Volvo 850GLE 1996 model
yesterday. Collected deposit from buyer and full settlement in few days
time. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Have been driving the car whole
of yesterday and today. Sayang nak jual juga. The more I drive the car
these two days the more my family and myself like and will miss the car.
If I cannot find the 850R Auto and should I commit to Toyota MPV, there
goes the good time. Gone. VOCM trips. Volvo outstation trips and TT. Gonna
miss them as well......Crying

850GLE,

You are still welcome even with your kijang.

Obviously, Kijang is much more appropriate if you put family/space
requirement as the factor.

But on the other hand, if you put where your heart is, wondering how
the 'boost preasure' (and the g-force maybe) like and not to mention all
the built-in safety features to protect you and your family, off course
850R is the answerlah brudder.

Whatever it may be, do keep us posted on what you finally settled with.

Cheers.

850GLE, my sympathies to you for the speeding ticket. What to do?
Sometimes we just cannot avoid getting one, can we? The one I got was the
1st ever speeding ticket,lol!

Ha, so, you sold your beloved 850! If space for the family is your
priority, wouldn't the T5 fit? Anyway, best of luck in whatever you
purchase in the future. You're still welcome to join us in our
gatherings/events/trips. You'll always find friends in VOCM! Do keep in
touch.

Wonder how many of us will buy Volvo MPV if there is one?

Cap48,
Me too! This is also my first speeding ticket. To be more precise, the 1st
speeding ticket since I own this Volvo. Of course I have numerous since I
started driving years ago. Ha ha.

Topic of interest for today – The buyer paid a small deposit on Saturday
(9th April) and my car number came out 2nd prize on Sunday(10th April). So
far no news from him regarding arrangement for full settlement. “An
analyst specialize in sales and marketing of Volvo vehicle” says he has
most probably paid the down payment for a brand new S60 T5! Ha ha.Big Smile

850GLE,

Sold already? I guess my friend will have to wait a little longer as there
are not many 850 for sale around.

Can't sleep ha last night? Thinking to depart with the 850 or what to get
next? How about the trip to Bukit Merah?

Anyway, Good Luck and hope you find the right one.
