Dear all S40 (latest model)owners,

Just got the latest news from SM Sg Besi i.e. not to buy the latest model
of S40 as there were 3 units of S40's 2.4i Engine dropped in the middle of
road while cruising and the cars are still in the SC wihtout engine...This
is the news released by one of the SM's SA..Sound scary and stupid..

My friend has hold back his decision to be a S40 owner after receiving the
above news..Could anybody comments or convince my friend to make his right
choice....He is still dilemma and not sure whether to listen to the SA..

If this is truth..S40 buddies, u shud gather and sent back yours and ask
for replacement of S320 instead...

not sure..the SA just told my friend " dun buy S40, there are 3 units of
S40 engine broken and drop off on the road, one in KL, one in JB and one
in ???, dun buy, its not a good car, failure!!"

Can u imagine the SM's SA giving this kind of news?? What a good SA! We
need to verify if this is true story....Anyone from Volvo FA or SM could
tellllllll???? Or anyone experience this???

I fully agree that this is a serious issue if this is true.

If true, I would expect Volvo Malaysia to recall all their S40s for
inspection

If its a hoax, the culprit must be dealt with as soon as possible to
minimise reputation risk for Volvo and help maintain confidence and
resale value for those owners.

But wait a minute.... SA from SM told you this ? as i'm regular visitor
there and yet heard nothing about this even from technical dept., is
the SA are trying to sell off their others aged model like S60 or S80
that due to replace soon? so just craeted the story on S40 ? and so
far had follow through the new S40 owners feel back on local &
aboard forum and never hear any horrible story on the engine....

I personally feel that this is only an hoax..But the words are come from
the reputable Volvo dealer Sw*** Mar***

Thus, i believe everybody especially S40 owners are looking for the
clarification from FA or SM...Or else..my friend won't take his life for
risk..what do u think if the power plant just drop like that on the
highway??

I just rang up my SA from SM, he said he never heard about this at all. I
think the SM management will look into this case right after the X'mas
holidays since this has seriously damaged the Volvo image as well as
consumer's confidence.

Ken do you know the SA's name? If this is true then I don't think the SA
will face any internal action against him since he is telling the fact,
but if he is the one who created and spread the rumours, then he must be
sacked immediately at no excuse.

ken,

I would not waste my time on a story like this. And it has got nothing to
do with the fact that I am collecting my S40 next week.Big Smile

Perhaps my exposure has been rather limited but I have never heard of any
car's power plant drop out while the vehicle is in motion. And I mean ANY
CAR, not only Volvo.

Whoever created this hoax for whatever reason/agenda is not doing a good
enough job IMHO. Try harder next time bro, whoever it might be.Wink

Cheers.
