Hi newkelisa, will definately try to do twice starting. Anyway, don`t
bother to change anything other than the fuel distributor. I have changed
all that I though of causing the problem, accumulator, inner and
outer filter, inner and outer pump, warm up regulator, injectors, ignition
module etc...except the fuel distributor. This is a very delicated parts
and after knowing that tempering of any DIY attempt will mas up the
pressure and could cause idleling problem, unexpected die-off after a
while.etc etc...therefore until now I dare not to touch ANYTHING myself...
What relay you are talking about ? fan relay ??

Wow ... you've changed pretty darn the whole CIS. Bets off the accumulator
then huh. Hmm .. what about the fuel check valve? Any thoughts on that?
Instead of getting the whole fuel distributor have you tried replacing the
control pressure regulator which may be a cause? I have seen the parts
schematic for the fuel distributor and it looks servicable. If the
individual parts are listed it should be available, unfortunately maybe
through volvo only. Might be a cheaper alternative?
Have you done a fuel pressure test of the CIS? Indispensible in diagnosing
this sort of problem so I was told.
Volvoman & SA6
the relay does have one of it wires going to the fan and another one going
to the starter. it's definitely not the power stage as that is on the
inside fender correct? This relay is bolted onto the strut tower behind
the power steering reservoir (for a B230E dunno bout B230ET). it's a bosch
relay.
Thanks guys

Do you guys notice also about the oil stain near the lower part of our
engine. The location is where if you remove the connecting hose that
connects between the engine to the air filter box. You find it there but
first must remove the hose. What's the cause ?

If you are referring to the inside of the fuel distributor where the hose
connects to, then it's normal. Just make sure the flame trap is ok. I've
noticed by using synthetic oil that the oil stain is less in volume and
colour.

hmm...do u mean the hose between air filter to the intake? if yes, it is
normal if the PCV trap is okay, i mean if not bleed too much.
it has been explained clearly by bro Vol940 in VOCM forum. ok

oklah, bro. But why the stain/bleed ? Was told only the engine/car is old
already. Do you guys still use fully sync engine oil for 740 ?

no lah bro...
since the car was 15 y o already, cheap mineral engine oil (20-50w) dah
okay. but, changed it at 5K km on the dot.
orang tua kena jaga makan, kalau tidak cepat jatuh sakit...heheheh

I have also change the pressure regulator or sometime they call as warm up
regulator located just under the intake manifold. The unit has 2 fuel pipe
attach to it, one in and one out. I don't see and way we can service this
usnit becuase I have open it before. It just wiring. Fuel pressure check
valve ?? errrr this is new to me !! what is this parts located ??
I still cannot recognise the relay you are refering to, but if it attached
to the fan than I am sure it the fan rely, or it could be an additional
relay that the previous owner add to your stater. The Bosch realy and is
small in rectanglar shape right ??
Synthetic are a very good oil base, and for a turbo car is definately good
to use. However, for our old brick, mineral oil will do, as what volvoman
said, regular service at every 5K is good enough.
By the way has anyone of you change to Nivomat type suspension for the
rear?? I am looking for one now because I heard it will give much much
better conerring for the car..

My mistake on the control pressure regulator. Its the same thing as the
warm up regulator.
I have to reconfirm this fuel check valve first mate with the parts book
first. But it should lie in the hose coming out from the fuel filter. If I
recall it was in between the accumulator and the filter. It prevents fuel
flowing back into the filter.
Interesting problem we have here. I'll try to get to the bottom of this.
I'll post a new message/topic if I find anything to get ur attention
The bosch relay is a small black rectangular thing. It isn't attached to
the fan per se but one of its 4 wires goes to the fan. This is really odd.
You mean there is no relay whatsoever bolted onto a metal frame in front
of the passenger side strut tower? It should be in between the strut tower
behind and the power steering reservoir in front. I'm pretty confident
it's an OEM relay as the manual states that there is a relay in that
location.
Wish I had a digital camera .. a picture is worth a thousand words. I'll
see if I can cook up something.
Thanks
