OK, I think I am really confused now. I thought all immobilisers are
wireless so would be car thieves can't steal the car. Are the wireless
units better? What are the chances of me getting immobilised by accident
with a wireless unit?

Jadedbell,

Do take some time off and refer to the website i asked u to refer in my
first posting. U'll see the photos of the various types of immo's as well
as a short description on their functionality.

Ofcourse there are wires in the conventional immos. And there are cutoff
points which can disable ur immo, but all the wires are of the same colour,
so its difficult for the theives to determine which is the right one.

In regards to this, obviously the wireless immos would be much better as
there are no wires to be cut...so more difficult for them to deal with such
immos...maybe they need to do more 'homework' on ways to beat it.

Plz dun be under the impression that if u install an immo, the theives
won't be able to steal ur car. It is just an added protection, and u may
catch an unexperienced theif/hijacker by surprise.

I've read/heard that these days when the theives hijack ur car, they take u
on a 'joyride' to ensure that ur car is 'stealable' and there are no immos
installed in ur car....or if u have, they'll make u disable the immo/take
ur transponder card.

The chances of u gettin' immobilised by accident is nil, unless u screw up.
But even if u do, there are ways to manually override the system and get ur
car back up n running in minutes.

Hope this helps.

=> not all are like Cheetah. Other brand immob still run using colored
wires.

Hearing that, i'm glad that i went for cheetah...i don't think i would have
opted for it, if the wires were of different colours.

Thanks for the info fooyc, i was not aware of that.

btw, i don't think 'the top installer' like u mentioned, installed the immo
for me, coz the guy was a slim lanky fella who came in a potong saga Big Smile

But he did a good job and was patient enough to teach me all the procedures
to disable/override the system etc...coz i read somewhere that a few people
who had got it installed from outside were not told about all the procedures.

fooyc, did check out the wireless ones? what's ur opinion about them?
