i drive a pajero

i just service my pajero io, engine oil to chemlube 10w/40 (15000km) and
atf to dexron III

when i start my engine this morning, i noticed that there is excessive
white smoke coming out of my exhaust. when i got to my office, i revved
it for a while and ran down to have a look at the exhaust, there is not
much smoke

is this common?

i was also told that mobil 1 is better than chemlube, so what should i
use the next time round?

anyone here have any good addictive to recommend. it is quite easy rite?
just open the bottle and pour it into the engine oil compartment?

Hello there,

Don't be lost, the white smoke is just water condensation from overnight
dew!!

Preference of engine oil. Go try a few brands and stick with the brand that
your wallet is most comfortable with (Mobil 1 is more pricey I suppose). It
ain't gonna break your engine unless you prolong your service interval.

Addictive? Depends on what you want to achieve? But most cars can live
without addictive to the engines. Why wanna make your car "addicted" in the
first place?? Big Smile

Just bought this IO second hand? Any plans to go off-road?

yea .. just got it ..

one of the single din compartments has a broken hindge, i went to a few
acessory shops to look for a replacement unit (with a door) so i can put
my smart tag inside. all of them told me its of different size, go back
to usf ... even when i asked them to check on the rattling sound on my
door, they told me to go back to usf ... what the heck man

arghhhhhh

and i found out something new when i service my car. the mechanic called
me after i left the car there. he started off like this "petrol filter
for merc is below rm100, yours is rm245 ... so i'm not changing for you"

anyone has any idea whether it really costs so much?

Hi Iamlost,
Welcome to the Pajero club... where we don't trust USF to service our
rigs. Did u send me an email a couple weeks back? If it's you, then I
apologize for the late reply. I have to confess I'm not familiar with your
IO, but as far as my V31V is concern, parts and price is not an issue, my
petrol filter only cost RM30.00. Mechanic wise, find a good one that you
can trust.

My mechanic is very good, but I have to set appointment 1 week in advance
to get an oil change.... and that's ok with me, I will not let another
mech touch my rig, if you know what I mean......

Hello there,

Not sure which compartment you are talking about. But I think it's worth a
hunt in "kedai potong" rather than accessories shop. Or perhaps Epoxy will
do the job?

Fixing door rattling, you can go to those accessories shop other than
Cosplus, Brothers and those who have lots of young chaps. Go to the shop
where it is a One-man show type, I am sure he will gladly do it for you for
a small fee.

As for fuel filter. I had the same experience. Only thing is that my
mechanic made the decision for me to use the OEM ones. The original one was
quoted RM150 for Kembara, settled for an OEM one for RM40!!

Your IO is a 2 door 1.6 or 4 door 1.8... either case also Proton has a same
capacity Wira, can their fuel filter be used instead??

like that, behind maybank

any acessory shop you would recommend?

i heard from some dude, that other cars might be easier to get oem. it
would be harder to find an oem for an io because of the volume thingy.

mine is the 4 door 1.8

my regular accessory shop is in Klang. It's no harm stopping by any
accessories shop just to ask whether they are keen to do it for you. Those
ppl in the chain-accessories store of course will be less interested to do
it.

not sure about oem for io. was merely just suggesting that perhaps it's
worth looking at the similarities with a wira 1.8 petrol filter.

good luck trying then...
