UBS69 (3.1Tdi) cost 3 or 4 times more than UBS55 (2.8TD). And UBS55 uses
less fuel than UBS69, 30mpg vs 24mpg.

But UBS69 is a LOT more refined and comfortable than UBS55. There is no
free lunch.

UBS69 should be compared to 1997 Toyota Prado and Mitsubishi 2.8. Not
Toyota LCII and Mitsubishi L047.

Tourist,

UBS 55 2.8L turbo, does this car share the same engine with Isuzu Invader
2.8L turbo too?

Do you have any experience with Invader? Or have you heard of anything
from your contacts whom has driven the Invader? For my budget Invader can
be in the list too. Mind sharing?

Same parameters - reliability, fuel consumption, parts availability, air-
con reliability and basic 4x4 performance. And on the road drivability
(because i heard invader's road handling is not good).

UBS55 and Invader use the same 4JB1-T engine. World's first direct
injection in an 4WD. Efficient, durable and extremely economical. Easily
beat similar size & era engines from Toyota and Mitsubishi. IMO, even
better the newer UBS69 3.1TDi. The main drawback is it's extremely noisy.
But with turbo charger, make sure it has been properly maintained.

As for road handling, I don't have one but I am pretty sure it will be
better than Toyota pickup easily. Toyota's main problem is it's higher
center of gravity. Better for off road clearance but bad for stability on
highway.

Tourist thanks.

Sorry to bore you with simple questions - how can i ensure the turbo
charger has been properly maintained?

I am about to see one. According to the used car dealer, this particular
one, manufactured 1999, RM30k, but engine has been transplanted, same
engine, guess the old one has konged. But according to him the car is in
good condition. Which area should I pay attention to then?

RM30K for a 9 years old pickup? Not sure but price is probably RM70K brand
new so instinct tells me asking price is too high. 4JB1-T is extremely
durable so the need to transplant is a very interesting question. I will
just look-look at this one but will not confirm.

invader don have intercooler.....but invader damn jimat
minyak....powerful coz body light.....engine inciban...no
complaint....part many...new or used semua ada.....4x4 i think
oklah....one tyre masuk longkang also can push it up using low
gear.....aircon ahhhh....some owner got problem already....road handling
will better if u change the absorber like koni or rancho...if using
original stock absorber the car easy to slip away once u make a emergency
break.....i try b4 thanks god i still alive.....i think coz the weight of
car is very light so road handling not so better....Smile

Please compare SUV vs SUV and not SUV vs Pickup. You can give people the
wrong information when you do that. Go compare the Invader against Hilux
pickup.

hey willie, tourist, don`t worry about the comparison between pickup vs
SUV, i am fine with your answers. appreciate it. I need the space for
cargo, be it truck or SUV (actually, with proper protection, SUV should
be able to carry more mass)

i have been shoppping around too, i tried a LCII but it is converted to
1KZ engine with auto transmission, and all are working well. It is owned
by the machanic who did the conversion, asking for RM38k. I am incline to
take this.

What`s your thought?

actually I am also toying with the idea of trading in my Peugeot 307 for
a newer truck. but the used car dealers are quoting me RM43k for the 307,
so i think i should keep it since it is a perfect car.
