Ok but was your problem an AC low-idle problem?

yes..back then couldnt idle when ac compressor kick-in....

so add denso FICD to compensate....

later after a while...the mysterious idling suddenly raised by itself (a/c off or on didnt affect anything on that) so i had to remove the stock idle speed control and add another FICD to compensate cold-start function....

then my car working fine till now....

My Mitsu also had that problem, my mechanic fitted a manual FICD from the kembara. Drill a hole in the inlet manifold and attached it there....

this even more extreme...drill new route in the manifold...

I went back to Proton and they said I dont have a FICD. They said the early series Wira had Mitsubishi components and FICD. Later, round 2000, Proton changed to VDO components and the FICD/IACV function was taken over by the ECU so there are no separate parts in the FI anymore. I'm only relaying what they said.

They are trying to locate another working ECU of the same Wira series to compare operations and results from the handheld. They believe the ECU has to be replaced. I have no knowledge about ECU so I cant say whats true or incorrect or what. I told them to COMPLETELY disassemble the throttle body and manifold parts and look for trouble, but first reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery, restart the car for 15 min, then off, then IGN on for 30 seconds so that the ECU remembers the new settings. If the same results as before, then ok take apart the manifold.

There are still sensors on the manifold that can be checked, and I can see a vacuum device mounted on the firewall which connects into the throttle body by hose--what is that for?

They said the "broken plastic screw in FICD" applies to the early Mitsu series Wira.

so your car was running Siemens VDO ecu?

to adjust cold start/normal idling/aircond compensation can be done via MUT/PDA....that should rectify the problem....even if install new ecu without proper calibration the problem wouldnt solved....

To activate the unit, still taking from vacuum hose but the unit feeding air in, is attached to the inlet manifold

I know......but either pay or dump the car?  Mudah has secondhand ECU, im not sure I would take the chance.

Is it possible to re-convert to carburetor? Use the system on the 1.3 Saga?

Proton says mine is VDO ecu.  I couldnt see any brand name on the unit, it has a part number and says Made in Malaysia.

I did ask Proton about re-programming the ECU but they say the car cannot be started now because the ecu is kong. I just dont believe it. I come for a aircon/idle problem, the ecu was otherwise fine.

Im calling them now.....now its 3 weeks in the dealer and they dont know whats wrong and the ecu is kong, they say, so it cannot be tested. You take in a running car and come out with a dead car and nobody knows why?

yep vdo is made by siemens..any adjustment regarding idling can be done easily via mut/pda by proper tech. person.....not just guesswork shabby technician
