IF YA TOO LAZY TO CLICK!
Malaysia: Fuels
Conventional fuels
Number of fuel refineries: 3
Lead phaseout: Yes (since 1998)
Lead Phased out Programme
Malaysia first started the fuel quality improvement by reducing the lead
content in gasoline fuel through the introduction of the Environmental
Quality (Control of Lead Concentration in Motor Gasoline) Regulations
1985.
1985 (1st Stage Reduction) - Reduction of lead content from the initial
0.84g/l to 0.5g/l.
1990 (2nd Stage Reduction) - Further reduction from 0.5 g/l to 0.15g/l.
1991 - Almost all of the oil companies started to voluntarily introduce
unleaded gasoline (ULG)
1997 - Unleaded gasoline accounted for about 82% of nationwide gasoline
sales
August 1998 - Governement announces ban of leaded gasoline

leaded. RON 92 & 97 are unleaded. However, what I have heard is that
certain stations carry leaded fuel to cater for older vehicles, and the
octane rating for this fuel is also RON 92. Plesae take note that this is
what I've heard; am not claiming to be an expert.
I know a guy who owns a beautifully-restored VW Beattle. He uses leaded
fuel which he sources from 1 or 2 stations around his area.
R40s,
Hey, dipsh*t, as I have mentioned before, that was NOT my contention, but,
another forummer, "thailand". Here it is, again. Hopefully, your miniscule
brain can absorb it, this time.

"Unleaded vs Leaded issue very easily solved. The pump nozzle for unleaded
petrol (no matter what grade) is slightly smaller diameter than for leaded
fuel. On the other hand the petrol filler "hole" on cars which need
unleaded fuel (ie with cat)is slightly smaller diameter so that only the
pump nozzle for unleaded petrol can go into the "hole". The nozzle for
leaded fuel will be too big. This is a international safety precaution so
that u do not fill in leaded petrol and damage your cat."

of 'bigger nozzles' so that v can discuss n clarify about this. IMO,
octane rating for this type of petrol should not be only 'ron 92' but i
could b wrong. i'm just curious, those who come across 'bigger nozzle'
did they actually see the word 'ron 92' written on the pump ? or just
judging it by the color of the pump ?
p/s : pls dont shoot me... i'm just a newbird here....ekekekeke

"Thank you for contacting Shell
Please note that Shell Fuels sold at petrol station are unleaded.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at the Shell Customer Service Centre (
1-300-88-1808 ) should you require further assistance.
On behalf Technical Service Engineer.

So if anyone here encounters a bigger nozzle for RON92 take note the petrol
is UNLEADED, only thing is the station manager too stingy to have the
nozzles replaced.

OK. Freshoil, let me know the petrol station name, place and company. Let
me get our Government shut down their petrol station due to law violation
of selling leaded petrol in the market. Deal?

"Just hate to see this topic raise and talk again and again non-stop."
The solution is quite simple, actually; stop clicking into this topic. Or,
since u're so "pissed-off", maybe you should rebuke the thread author and
threaten anyone who is thinking of starting a similar thread. Deal?

My, my, aren't we the little eager-beaver, civic-conscious,
Karam-Singh-Walia-wannabe citizen! I don't give a hoot if there is leaded
petrol in the market; I don't need it. If there is, all I want to know is
how it is differentiated from unleaded. If there isn't, my life will still
be the same.
Go on your little crusade, if u want. But, if u wanna 'enforce' the law, I
suggest you direct your anger and energy into more important issues. Refer
to Karam's reports for direction. Deal?
