driving in gear 2 and 3 means you driving during peak traffic jam time.
It's normal la for it to be hotter than gear 5 cos gear 5 means you
already cruising with no jam.

I guess kancil have weird problem. My wife kancil auto (2000) temp will
rise about 1/4 without air con on. But the temp will rise only slightly
(less than 1/8) if air con switch on from the start and it will stay there
all the way. IF temp rise almost 1/2, then you better check the radiator.

And if you go for radiator flush, make sure you refill it with drinking
water (NOT MINERAL WATER) or normal tap water + radiator coolant. From my
experience the water will remain clear compare with using normal tap water.
Tap water contain chlorine and it will cause the water to turn rusty quite
fast.

spongebob,

That is perfectly normal, why would it be weird? See, kancil only got 1
fan, shared by both anti-overheat and aircond circuits.

If you don't switch on aircond, the system will wait for the temp to rise
until nearly half level at the meter to kick in the fan. If you switch on
aircond, the fan spins whenever the aircond compressor kicks in, blowing
away the heat from both the engine radiator and aircond condenser.

That's why in a well maintained Kancil, you don't see the temp needle
venture pass 1/4 mark even in severe traffic jam. At least mine does.

Regards.

not normal....see ur spare water tank, if empty, mean got leak somewhere.
could be radiator, gasket, hose. if not empty, service radiator, change
water pump and thermostate. see also fan spin or not. check dipstick oil,
got enought oil?

also do this. open radiator cap, let engine warm(fan spin), fill water
untill all bubble get out from radiator. bubble not good for radiator.
change cap if rusty.

good luck
