If a car has been given the diamondbrite treatment, should there be holograms and swirls still evident?

Can I do ROB with LC black pad and 3M ulrafina or Menz 85rd on it? My main purpose is to remove those holo and minor swirls.

What is THE ultimate aim of diamondbrite anyway? Brochure says no need to polish/wax 6 years.....

Car is beige and Nov 09 stock.

Those holo and swirls can only be seen under strong light. In the bright sun,not apparent.

Help needed guys. Never come across car having this treatment before so dont know the dos and donts about it.

Diamond Brite is a coating on top of the ori paint. So whatever swirl/holo/scratches on the paint before do Diamond Brite, it'll be there forever. It's like covering a school text book with a plastic cover. What ever writen on the book cannot be erase outside the cover. Unless you take out the cover 1st.

I know this because last time when still in Cycle & Carriage, most of the cars I've sold treated with it.
Ram me if you can!

awesome! U have some 'inside' info. Dont they compound or polish first before applying? So my intention to rub or eliminate or minimize the swirls, susah lah. Cant be done at all? Then can i just apply wax or glaze to hide those swirls and hologram? Its a c-class

and how do i know if it has really been applied? For all i know, the salesman bs me.i buta-buta sign diamondbrite guarantee card.

you could check right either the swirl is under the coating or on top of the coating. If its on top should have no problem to eliminate the swirl or even by putting a filler. but if its under the coating. even filler doesn't helps.

is Diamondbrite coating similar to ceramic coating or those hard clear coat?
If Yes, hantar aje to Osren or Extreme Detailing...
I've seen the process of polishing the ceramic clear coating to eliminate OP, Swirls etc.... smile_disapprove.gif
Not to discourage, just that the workmanship is too tedious....

The AxDx in SG also have DB on them and they also get swirled and other defects as time passes. You could live with the swirly DxxxxxdBxxxe or you can choose to polish out the swirl and reapply sealant or wax. IMO, it's just another marketed PP sealant... most LSP cannot withstand light scratching (swirl) from carwash/ drying. 2/3 bucket washing method may minimise swirl but cannot stop it from happening unless the car is not use after polishing..i.e. show car only.

So it MAY have been done before car delivery.

But to have the amount of swirls and holograms, it must mean they applied it long ago and they just have been washing their 'carwash guy on a bicycle' method to keep it shine. or, they just apply treatment without removing holo and swirls.

The question is how to check whether really applied or not. Someone suggested pour water and see how it runs, yes good idea but ALL LSPs will produce some kind of unique water flow. Its a question of how long that effect lasts.

But those swirls and holo are really an irritant to me. SIGH.....

Bro, I assume you don't like the swirls and holo, and you wouldn't care much for diamond brite. Here's what to do.

Use wax and grease remover or multicleaner or any cleaner to wash the coating away.

How do you know it's gone??

Squeek test, beading test, repealant test. Your call.

If your car fails all of the above, you're quite sure your car is "naked" hence you can begin surface prep jobs.

Whether is hard clear, soft clear or if the coating is still there, do inspect your work after doing a panel and see what difference are there.

Have fun!!! smile_cool.gif
