Over the two days, each of the two journos got to drove the 320d and 520d. The X3-20d was not brought along, as it seems that they've all been sold out. The 730Ld did come along, but the only unit was driven by the MD.
Anyways, here's the story: Stretching It....
Yani Fadzil of CBT also joined the drive. Her story appeared on CBT today: Green power, the BMW way - by Yani Fadzil
I would also like to call upon you guys to share with us your perceptions and experiences of diesel engines as well. BMW is really going gung-ho in promoting these cars, and I'll say they're quite a drive!

Great ride but the 520 is too expensive. They should CKD it to make it cheaper or maybe they will do so only in F10 guise. Nonetheless, it is time the gomen bring in Euro 4 standards in order to clean up the environment and let us have more car choices. Then we will also have the Merc Blue Efficiency diesels as well to compete so that prices are lower for us consumers.

From what we have been told, the F10 is probably just months away from launch in Malaysia. There's no way BMW can justify investing CKD operations for the E60 520d with only such a short production period.
The bad news is that when the F10 comes, it will be an all-petrol range again for Malaysia during launch. The diesel versions will come much later.

If you want a diesel-powered 5-series, it's still worth going for those 520ds. At the media drive, the BMW ppl indicated that the F10 will not be launched with diesel-powered variants yet.
Those pre-reg 520ds are the cars which BMW Malaysia had brought in earlier for testing in our local roads. A couple of months, I saw one of them driven by Ivan Khong. It bore a WSQ plate (indicating Jun 2009 registration) and had no M-sport bodykits.

You are right, they won't ckd now. Let's hope they also don't overprice the F10 like Merc are doing for the W212 E-class. However, I think they will as they have kinda upped their used car prices as well the last few months compared to earlier this year.
