plenty of warnings before giving up the ghost. However, if you choose to
ignore the warnings, then you'll have to take the risk of being stranded
somewhere.

while already....anyway the repair cost for the 200/700/900 series are not
the same as 800 series. I think Dzul previous gearbox cost almost RM6K
rebuilt and Sun Eng Hup...try check with him as well.
Now that your gearbox still runing good but you can take some preventive
steps like adding an ATF oil cooler and change ATF more often. Hv you done
that ??

I replaced the ATF as soon as I got the car, planned to change every 20k
km or less because the 20k will take me about 2 years to cover. On the ATF
cooler, I'm still looking - maybe get the one advertised in the MOTOR
TRADER but I don't like the way they use the hose clips. It's the screwing
tyope like you use on water taps. If they crimp them like the air-cond
type, then it's more secure.
Other alternatives will be to look for the half-cut Mit Pajeros which has
similar sized coolers. Do you or any one you know have them ? If yes, just
drop me a mail and I'll collect it myself or through some travellers, or
some lorry drivers.

size ATF cooler will definate help a lot. As for the the piping clip, the
screw type is good enough becuase our autogear system is not high
presurise and sometime you need to disconnected so is more easy. Curretnly
I am using Mit's Pajero oil cooler, it's more than enough actually. I got
it for less than RM80 last time but when I tried to get another one for my
friend, they raise the price..bloody hell..
I did the smae to my car power steering system, I use a very tiny AFT
cooler taken from Suzuki. Though is not really necessary but what the
hell...for the fun of it..

The previous owner of my T5 has bypassed the ATF cooler by joining the 2
hose with a "U" pipe. The cooler is actually very small, about the height
of the radiator, 3 ins wide & is attached to the radiator - yes, it's part
of the radiator. The original (radiator & ATF) is made of aluminium & cost
about RM1.2k to 1.3k. An after market copper one will cost about RM1.5k.
In the T5, adding an ATF cooler can be a problem with space. There's
hardly any space to add one unless, maybe, you'll have to use much longer
non-standard hoses. So, when are you going to get it done? I'm also
interested.

My original has the ATF pipes running into the radiator, so this will be
an extra unit. I've seen one 850 (forgot whose) having the extra cooler
at the left front of the car behind the bumper (driver's left). Now just
looking for the cooler but here the mechanics are not so adventurous.
Maybe might DIY. If I find some extra coolers around, I'll give you a
call.
SA6,
Mind telling me what's the current price for one so that I know how to
negotiate for my side here ? I hear IPOH area is the cheapest ? Maybe
Cap48 can source also ?

outside kedai potong should price between RM50 for the small one 3.5" x 6"
to RM150 for 8" x 8" (roughly). YOu don't really have to stick to the
original one of course the original one looks better lar...

right ? I think 740 does not have a ATF cooler, so you're saying that the
OEM looks better for your case ?
