hi luvcar,

i truly second ymfoo, we support the recond car market, is like we support the AP practise.

but if you insist of buying, no one will stop you.
normally, many of grey imported cars mileage will be adjusted lower. this can be done, easily. so dont believe what we see. browse in the car to find the service booklet, normally in glove box. written in japanese. if u lucky enough, the previous service is stated there so compare that to the mileage u see.

the sellers will 100% make sure the cars sold is trouble free. even the problem is solved temporarily. this is one head ache many owners faced after selling. to make it worse, many cases warranty for engine is given but not for electronics but many imported estimas have plenty of electronic gizmos like power door, reverse camera, parking sensors and the like.

but as a consumer, try to get the best out of the deal.

window shopping is just as important. and since dealers are quite desperate to move their stocks especially companies like Naza which has hundreds in store. desperate dealers are more willing to give away more discounts.

it would be better if you get 3 dealers fighting against each other in order to close deal.

Yeap. Have been shopping around and everyone is telling me not to go to Naza. smile.gif
I worried for those electronic parts too, so, I chose the basic model, only 1 power door, not much fancy fancy electronic seat or what so ever. Less headache if anything goes wrong. Important is the engine, I supposed.

Frankly speaking, I'm pretty sure the profit taken by UMW Toyota and Honda Malaysia is pretty hefty too. They will never bow down to the market price until the Malaysian stop buying from them as well. If you look around now, the Conti or Korean cars are very much worthy than H,T,N. But what to do, they still can dominate the Malaysian mind about the second hand value. This is something that I supposed Estima gets better 2nd value later too.

Anyway, if we want to live in Malaysia, just need to follow the trend..... Haiz......

Not entirely true, the decision lies in the consumer's hand. If everyone can make an effort to move away from the norm, then a new standard is achieved. For eg. the Hyundai Sonata sold 532 cars in Jan 2011 and made it to the Top10 of non-national cars sold in Jan 2011, but Camry (usually a Top10 finisher was nowhere to be seen). Kudos to this 532 consumers who choose a different path. Have you seen any other country where a great amount of recond cars being dumped? EVen Indonesia do not have that many. If you have yesterday's Sunday NST, you should read the article written by Yamin at the CBT Section. Great reads, on why we lost to Thailand and which direction we are heading.

Back in 2005, we have WALD, which specialised bringing in VW Golf GTI and the MINIs. People flocked to them because VW was not represented then, and MINI was relying on Cartrade for the APs (and when Cartrade ceased to be a dealer, the importation of MINI cars got stucked! So ppl had no choice but to get the MINIs from WALD). Soon, VW (M) got established and BMW/MINI team up with Sime Darby for proper franchise AP. Now, if you want to get a GTI or MINI, you visit the authorised dealers.

But of course, the final choice is in the consumer's hand because its the consumer's $$.

Yes, UMWT and Honda Malaysia make hefty profit, but they invest in their service centres, they train ppl, they also invest in CKD and they give warranty!

The open AP ppl don't even work, they sell the AP to Alibaba and get RM50K straight, it is the Alibaba who has to set up showrooms and work!!!

It's just a matter of principle. It is personal choice. You pay 160K to get a 4 year old car and think that it is superior than a brand new Grandis, it's your choice.

But if you do that, don't ever complain about our system in this Bolehland in future if there is any discrimination happen to you or your children because you SUPPORTED the system.

Hi luvcar,

I just bought a second Caldina from my cousin and he bought it from Wang Selamat (owned by Mofaz). The car was in good condition, 90% like new. What I wanted to share with you was, any car you buy (new, used, or recond) it all depend on your luck. I used to have a Honda Civic 1997 in which I bought second hand as well from a direct onwer, that car give me no issue for the first 4 years (I owned for 7 years).

We as Malaysian have no choice, therefore some of us need to buy recond car in the market. As ourself sincerely, the car price in Malaysia is higher than majority white/blue collar capita per year. Local brand such as PR & PER, the price was higher interm "local made car" category. The Big Three Japanese manu H, T and N could not bring in any new Harrier, Estima, Alphard, Elgrand, All-New Wish and many more model due to it control by the AP's King. Becoz these few model are well acceptable by Malaysian market. Look at Singapore & HK, they managed to import all those new car via their official dealer.

Everyone know, Japanese built the best condition car for their local use. While their export model is not good as Japan Domestic Market also known as JDM. Everyone know how Japanese take good care of their car and how many years they permitted to use.

If we managed to support on the maintenance, FC and etc why not?

Just my sharing and no offense to anyone. I wish have a new car.
